The house is situated on the St. Lawrence river and seeing the barges and ships go by your window (so close you can see what people are wearing) was an experience. We never got tired of watching it. The sunsets were amazing as well. The property wasn't cleaned when we arrived and the owner was quick to respond to the issue and had reported there was a new new cleaning service. We ended up cleaning the place b/c we were having a graduation party. That was the only negative issue. We would definitely come back and stay here if available when we visit the North Country.
This beautiful Victorian home is in the process of a complete renovation but keeping its historic charm! Owner Philip was extremely accommodating, providing us with kayaks ( unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate) and fresh eggs for breakfast. He also delivered an ironing board and iron on request. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Hopefully as renovations continue they will add window treatments to all the bedrooms. The one full bath was newly renovated, with a large shower & laundry, with an elegant Victorian vanity. The half bath is off the kitchen- both bathrooms were like new and clean. The large kitchen is very nice, all new appliances. He does have dogs that live in the house -renters with allergies may want to know that. The house was very tidy and clean.
The house is only 12 minutes from Clarkson University (we came for our son’s graduation) we could walk to a cafe & bakery as well as a small market & liquor store.
The house sits on the Grasse River & the views are beautiful! Thanks to Philip for a great weekend!
