  • Rainforest!
    4 of 5

Our group of 10 booked both the upper and lower residences for our vacation. We stayed three nights in Hana and we loved it! Keep in mind, this is the rainforest. Things are wet and yes, there can be a mildew smell. Yes, there are bugs, spiders, lizards, and aggressive mosquitos but that’s to be expected in this tropical climate! So if you’re looking to be in 5 star luxury and comfort, stay somewhere else. But if you want hiking, exploring, picking fruit from trees, and are fascinated with the various critters of the rainforest, then this is it. As for the house itself, it served its purpose of a bed, bath, and kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook at home since there’s not much in the way of “eating out” in Hana. The beds upstairs are mostly comfortable and it being December, the temperature was perfect. My nephew did get quite the scare folding out the sofa bed in the lower residence when a large spider jumped out! So he refused to sleep there the whole time but again, this is to be expected IN THE RAINFOREST. Overall, we had a good time exploring Hana and the Black Sand Beach, the Kaeleku Caverns, the Pipiwai trail, eating at Huli Huli chicken, and other fun little things to do in the area.
