  • Cute, quiet apartment in a great neighborhood
    4 of 5

I loved the apartment and the neighborhood. It is literally steps away from Union Square, making transportation convenient to reach any place in Manhattan. I read all the reviews and can attest to the fact that the manager has made improvements to the dishware situation. I had ongoing problems with the heat, which Lara worked quickly to resolve. Lara is responsive and helpful, which I really appreciated. The property itself is worth 5 stars, as is Lara's management. When I had a problem with the heat, she sent the super over right away to help. It was the overall experience that rated 4 stars because there were several issues that others have noted, yet haven't been addressed. The key pick up is indeed confusing, the thing that turns on the shower is not intuitive, and the heat is an issue, all of these resolvable with more instructions. Let me help: to pick up the key (to access the code) slide the black piece downward. To operate the shower, pull down on the ring at the bottom the bathtub faucet. To operate the heat, open the radiator valves ALL the way (even then, the living room will be chilly because the air conditioner in one window lets in the cold air, but Lara provided me with a second space heater and I was comfortable).. I would happily stay there again now that I understand these quirks.

There were basic kitchen supplies and bathroom supplies useful for a short-term stay, and the apartment was clean and well-furnished. Fraulein was helpful but unobtrusive.
