What can I say about Princeville, Kauai! This place has the most heavenly views overlooking Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai/Makana Mountain. Last time I was on Kauai I promised myself I was coming back and staying where I could wake up to this view every morning— I only wish I could stay here for the rest of my life! Five stars to Hanalei Bay Resort. I’d recommend the St. Regis or Princeville resorts next door, too.🥰 But Hanalei Bay Resort’s Pool with swim-up bar is natural themed and absolutely amazing, so are the grounds and common spaces. And the restaurant above the pool was awesome—I really enjoyed the live entertainment, the beet salad was the best I’ve ever had, and when my drink tasted a little funny they had me a new one in less than 2 minutes. The bell service to the beach made it that much more fun too, they came right to our door to pick us up (I tipped $1 each ride, but they seem to really enjoy their job and didn’t seem to care at all when we didn’t have cash on hand after going to the beach). Been having breakfast at the Makana Terrace at the Princeville Resort too, and that place is unreal luxurious. Also, we made a reservation every morning there, and showed up early and they immediately sat us down anyway. I left my water bottle there too, and the staff held it in the restaurant until the next day. I didn’t even have to ask and they brought it to me as soon as I sat down. I saw a monk seal on the beach one evening, and would like to remind people they are highly endangered, less than 1000 remaining and the population declines 4% each year, so give them space, 50 feet minimum but I’d encourage you to view professional pics online and just enjoy their presence from your chair. One guy stalked the seal all the way down the beach preventing the seal from beaching and resting— don’t be that guy. Saw lots of beautiful fish on the reefs just off the beach and enjoyed swimming with a green sea turtle for about 30 minutes— again, another endangered animal so please respect their space. If you wake up before sunrise, head to the beach, you may see one out of the water napping. You’re gonna need fins, there was only one kid size and one adult size fin at the condo. Talk to the concierge at 8 a.m. and they will direct you to a rental. Water shoes if you’re not snorkeling and remember if you touch the coral it dies! It takes about 15 years for it to grow to the mass of a baseball, so do your best to stay in the sand and channels between the coral.
Our family felt right at home at this home in Princeville. Quick drive to Hanalei bay which we spent most of our days on the beach and kayaking. The drive to Waimea Canyon was about 2 hours and made for a spectacular day trip. The house has all the appliances and amenities to meet your needs.
