Linda and I (owners of this property since 2005) blocked off a period of time (JAN 1-10) to allow for a transition of our property from us to a new owner.
Please note that nothing will change as a result of the sale! The new owners have asked us to manage the property for them, so we are going to continue to use HomeAway/VRBO to take reservations and book the property for travelers.
We will continue to offer the same discounts and deals we always have. Guests can still get a 10 Percent Discount in the categories of Military, Senior, Educator, and First Responder! Return Guests will still get a 5 Percent Discount! As always, I will be in contact with guests from the very first contact through the return of the damage deposit after departure.
The new owners will make some upgrades as time goes on. There will probably be some new furniture and perhaps soon some new appliances, such as the stove, microwave, and clothes washer.

First, you need to know that a four-star rating is an excellent review from me. In this age of grade inflation, I reserve five stars for perfection, which is rarely achieved. Having said that, this cute cottage in a great location was nicely appointed and well-maintained, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
This home sits in the historic Lincolnville district of old St. Augustine, less than a mile from the downtown tourist attractions - a comfortable walking distance. The neighborhood is an eclectic mix of renovated and tumble-down properties, as is often found in historic in-town neighborhoods in the midst of reclamation and rejuvenation. It's a safe-feeling neighborhood, and I had no hesitation about walking home after dark from a nice dinner up the street. There was plenty of on-street parking in front of the house.
The interior is very nicely furnished - my first impression upon walking in was "wow - very nice!" The kitchen is one of the best appointed I have encountered in my years of VRBO rentals - the sharp knives were actually sharp and the non-stick skillets actually in good shape and non-stick. Everything else I looked for, from a whisk to a colander to a cheese grater, was provided. There were big beach towels available for hot tub or beach use (I used them in the hot tub) and bicycles (with helmets) for renter's use. Although the second smaller bedroom is a bit dark because it looks out on the covered screen porch, the master bedroom is large, light, and airy. The artwork on the walls is very appealing, obviously not bulk rental-property purchases from Target; I especially liked looking at the piece opposite the bed in the master bedroom - it's both a horse and an ocean wave and fascinating to study.
Although I did not have any issues which required contacting the owners during my stay, their contact information was readily available, and they were very responsive with the pre-arrival information needed for access to the cottage.
Where to eat? Walk to the Blue Hen for an excellent breakfast and make a reservation for an elegant evening meal at Preserved. The Black Molly in the Cobblestone shopping center near Publix has an outstanding shrimp po'boy and a nice selection of beers. We also dropped in at the Dog Rose and Ancient City breweries a couple of times.
In short, this is a real find in a sea of dark, cookie cutter, look-alike condos in the St. Augustine area. You won't be disappointed!
