We traveled to Oahu with our teenager to stay at the Cottage by the Sea. Skye was very friendly and welcoming, showed us around, gave us some hot spots to visit, and then we never saw her again. The property is separated in a charming way with lots of trees, little paths, etc. so you have privacy and so does she. Property is gated and has security lighting. I loved the idea of opening all the windows for fresh air, but my husband is hot-natured so the a/c had to be turned on each night (position the standing fan at the doorway to the bedroom - helps a lot). If you’re going to leave towels and beach gear on the porch to dry overnight, be sure it’s all placed under the roof as it may rain overnight. There’s a convenient shower right by the entrance to the property to avoid tracking sand into the cottage. Cottage was large enough for three of us and adequately stocked with dishes, glasses, towels, etc.
Ono’s is close by for good local food (you know it’s good when most customers are locals!). Several good restaurants in Kailua but keep in mind that most places close by 9pm. Beach access is at the end of the short street.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Skye’s cottage and you will too. Just remember to respect her property as if it were your own. Mahalo Skye!
From book in to check in it was a smooth process. Tricia was so professional and courteous. She even extended a discount for military which a lot of places do not do.
We always try to stay in Lanikai but Tricia's place is immensely better. Same type of neighborhood and same distance to the beach which actually is longer so not as crowded.
House is thoroughly upgraded and has top notch bedding, towels and kitchen ware. Big big plus is split system A/C units--one for living room and one for bedroom. Also beach equipment is new and not decrepit like other places we have frequented.
We will not stay elsewhere from now on!
