  • Great vacation home!

The Seaglass Cottage was even cuter in person! The whole home was very well stocked from the kitchen, to the linens, to extra blankets and pillows. The owners live nearby and were very kind. The house is centrally located to easily walk to the beach, the pier, Pirate's Cove miniature golf, and Palace Playland. We were able to easily drive to Portland and Saco for additional activities. We had some epic games of Sorry in the little dining room with our son. Overall great place to stay and great vacation!

  • Great location, lots of character, lots of stairs, bring cutlery if you cook

This house is a great little secret; I'm tempted to give a bad review just so we can keep it for ourselves. However, this little gem deserves a big shout out. Checking in was easy: we texted the landlord and gave an estimated time and he met us at the house to show us around. He was very helpful with other questions during our stay. The information packet has a list of restaurants for every price point. I added a booklet about visiting Maine breweries. (Quick aside: go to Allagash, and check out the 5 breweries that are within 200 yards. They’re kid-friendly; however, may be boring. A more local brewery, 5-10 min away, with various games and a relaxed atmosphere is Barreled Souls. Thank me later...) We thought the area around the house was nice and quiet (though it was only late June). It’s a 15 min walk from the center of town, far from the busy congestion. It's a 1 minute walk to the beach. In late June with rainy days we didn't miss air conditioning. We didn't see any vents for AC, so I don't know how much it's needed (we’re from Western MA). No exaggeration: there are 48 stairs from the ground level to the rooftop deck. The bedrooms are on the ground level, there are 19 narrow steps to the main living area. The kitchen is big and is stocked with the basics. If you're a foodie and plan on cooking in, you should bring your own knives/cutlery (I always do to rental places). There are 29 more narrow stairs to get to the roof top deck. The deck has an obstructed view of the ocean; however, you can still see a lot of it and when the weather was nice spent a lot of time up there. It’s high; however, big enough to enjoy if you’re uncomfortable with heights. HINT: if you forget to unlock the deck door and are locked out, there’s a set of keys “hidden” on a hook between the doors. Back to the ground level: There’s a shared courtyard area with a grill and some tables. We didn’t use them so can’t report on them. Some rental houses have quirks that it’s nice to know ahead of time. This one doesn’t, unless the very sensitive smoke detector in the kitchen/dining area counts. Note that the description says one parking spot: it’s true and accurate. I wrote a lot since this is the first review. However, in short, we’d like to be back. We enjoyed the house, its location, and the unique character it has. Kudos to the owner for sharing the house, and to Property Management Services for managing it so well.
