Our family of 6 traveled to Playa Del Coco Dec 27-Jan 4. We had a wonderful experience. The property is very well manicured and lots of sitting areas (2 firepits and two lobby type areas that are covered) and 4 pools to relax and have conversations. You can order food and drink poolside which is very nice, you pay at the end of the day before you go back to your condo. Security is strict (can only throw balls in kids pool, you must be sitting on a towel, and no towels drying on decks). This is in part to what makes the property look nice and stay in control. Pool closes at 9 as there are condos on both sides. The grocery store (Auto Mercado), Subway and Pops (ice cream shop) are a brief walk away. We went there often to grab last minute items. Our condo was clean when we arrived and Zindis was there to great us and provide instructions. Beds were comfy and water pressure excellent. We spent many nights on the balcony playing cards - bring lots of sunscreen and apply all the time. My daughter attracts mosquito and she had 38 bites before we dialed in the spray. We found the beach towels on the last day which was hilarious as we had been making due with the bath towels and did not think to look in the utility closet. The town is fun with lots of restaurants ( Z Lounge, Hard Rock Cafe, and a breakfast place called Congo for fabulous cinnamon rolls). Best excursions were arranged through TicoTours - Borquien (ziplining - 13 lines, horseback riding, volcano mud baths (but not a bath like you would imagine- more like large vases of mud that you rub on yourself) steam bath) ATVs & the Sand (wish it had been longer as the 2 beaches we visited were fabulous) and Morning Snorkel & Sail. All picked us up right at the Pedestrian Gate, which was a short walk to the entrance of the Pacifico property- Snorkel trip picked us up near the water- easy walk. We always felt safe. We did not rent a car but did the golf cart- which was fun- but cannot get you to Hermosa. What Coco beach does not have is Paddle Boards/Jet Ski rentals- you have to go to Hermosa for this or do a guided tour - FYI. Book both golf cart rentals and paddle board/jet-skis in advance if busy season. We used TicoTours for the golf cart rental and also transport to and from the airport- they did a good job and were timely. One thing with TicoTours is that meeting location and times can change last minute- so watch your email so you do not miss your excursion. Dave is great!
