Mammy's cabin was incredible. The smell of wood, fireplace, and mountain air was nice to walk into. It offered plenty of sleep space for our family of five. The views were amazing with the back porch facing East for great sunrises and the front porch facing West for colorful sunsets. Our boys loved romping through the woods and sitting in the hot tub. There is no AC which was not a problem with the ventilation fan at the top of the stairs. It did get chilly on our last couple of days, but a fire took care of that--there's also a gas heater in the dining area. I wish there had been a little more kindling, but we did fine for a couple of days.
The drive up to the cabin is intimidating at first, at least for us. However, once I figured out the places to "gun it" we had no problems. A 4 X 4 would be a big help, but like I said, once I got it figured out, no issue.
We were looking for a place to hide away and this fit the desire most perfectly. If you are looking for somewhere with lots of exciting things to do, don't look here--this is a place for relaxing and enjoying nature. The Brown's offer many dishes and cookware that we took advantage of. I wish the grill had been a little larger, but it just takes a little more time to cook for a family of five, and I had nothing else to do, so...
When we first arrived, we had a little issue with the hot tub, but Mr. Charles was quick to get that fixed for us and we spent the rest of the week with a relaxing hot tub.
We never saw any bears, but we did see up to three flying squirrels at night on the back porch. They are amazing creatures and our children had a blast watching them run up and down, back and forth and glide to the trees just beyond reach of the porch.
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, we would recommend Mammy's.
