  • Lovely flat in central Cape Town

"Spent a girls weekend in Cape Town at this lovely 2 story flat. It's located on the 11th floor, a corner unit, so it was very private and quiet (you do hear the street traffic, but it's not bothersome). Building is very secure and felt quite safe during our stay. The flat was very clean, and kitchen well stocked so that you can prepare meals if you like. The only thing it did not have was a coffee plunger, but there is a coffee maker. However, if you need anything from the shop, it's located just around the corner (PnP) - where you can also get ice if you care to make cocktails :) The balcony on the 1st floor is good size, and when it's not windy it is lovely to sit out there. You can see most of Table Mountain from there, as well as Lion's head and Signal Hill (between the other high-rise buildings). Beds are very comfy, plenty of towels and blankets. Air con in the bedrooms - the bedroom with the shower tends to get quite warm late afternoons on sunny days, as the flat is directly under the roof - but the air con worked well enough to combat that. I image in the summer that it would be very hot up there however (we stayed in late March and had 2 warm days around 28). But, being American from Texas, I am accustomed to having centralized air con in homes and hotels - therefore a local would probably not be bothered by the heat as much :) Close to Long Street and Bree Street, which is nice if you fancy a stroll. Driving, we were able to get to Lion's Head in 15 minutes (minus the traffic), Sea Point in 10, and Camp's Bay in 20 minutes. We used Uber - as we did not want to have to deal with parking when going out (which was so easy and they are super quick here in CT) The rates were very reasonable (r60 one way to Sea Point). Just tell them to come to the Sun Hotel for pick-up (which is across the street) since St. George's Mall is a pedestrian zone and hard for the drivers to find. Really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely stay here again."

  • Helpful owners and good location for all Cape Town areas

"The property is in a quiet residential area with parking out front. Due to the age of the building the house layout is what you might call quirky and has an eclectic range of furniture. There's only one bedroom and so not sure the house would be suitable for more than one couple. There are supermarkets/pubs/fast food joints within a short distance, although I wouldn't recommend walking after dark (nothing against the area - more SA in particular). Colleen and John were always available if we had any questions and the only real issue we had was internet access, as coming form the UK we'd assumed unlimited access was standard. If you don't have your own data package then you need to let Colleen know in advance so she can set it up for you - and then you only get 1gb free which we found insufficient for our 4 nights. Apologies for just going on about the internet but these days it's just accepted everywhere has full and free accesss. You can see table mountain from the front veranda and everywhere in the Cape Town area is easily accessible from the house but obviously you do need a car."

  • Maison Noir Surpasses All Expectations!

"Our family of eight recently spent a week at the beautiful Maison Noir. Nestled in seclusion below Table Mountain in Hout Bay, it provided a perfect home base for our day trips in the Cape Town region. It was only 20 minutes from Cape Town yet was a beautiful respite after all the activities we pursued during the day. The property itself is stunning. Entering along a wooden boardwalk over koi ponds you arrive at the front door with a view across the hall to the pool and mountains. There are so many places just indoors to hang out....from the bright living room near the kitchen and dining room, to the cosy family room down the hall, to the cool lounge area outside the bedrooms, to the movie theatre or wine cellar in the basement. There were three beautiful bedrooms with loft areas for extra sleeping plus a huge master suite with fireplace and sitting area. Outside, there was another dining area, seating on a covered patio and by the pool, and a sweet meditation area. Everything was so well laid out, with fastidious attention to every detail..outdoor showers, open fireplaces, Africology bath products, fine linens, candles and fresh flowers everywhere, a little shop selling locally made products, a pre-stocked fridge and bar, and a fabulous coffee maker. Albie and his staff were fantastic. No request was too small and he was a joy to communicate with about our needs, even before our arrival. The staff knew how to balance taking care of us, with leaving us to feel like we had the house to ourselves. The house and property were spotless. We used Maison Noir's 12 passenger Mercedes Sprinter and driver for excursions. This made planning much easier. It was a very comfortable ride and Yves was an excellent driver. Maison Noir will kindly make arrangements for activities if you like. We chose to hire Charisse, the most fabulous chef, to make five dinners for us. After a busy day out touring, it was such a treat to come back to beautiful Maison Noir and unwind while smelling the aromas of Charisse's cooking. She worked with us beforehand to plan each three course meal. She did not disappoint at all! Her passion about food is tasted in every bite. In Hout Bay itself there are amenities like restaurants and shops. We particularly enjoyed the Friday night market where you could purchase delicious local food from assorted booths, sit at communal tables and then shop for locally made handicrafts! We highly recommend Maison Noir and cannot wait to return!"

  • Exquisite!

"We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Ocean's Horizon. The house is so beautiful, well kept, and clean and the views are like a dream come true! Susan left us a welcoming gift along with some groceries in the refrigerator which was super unexpected! Susan was so great to work with and provided us with so many resources on things to do and places to go. We loved the small town charm of Scarborough but were still close to so many other attractions. Our stay here and their hospitality exceeded our expectations! We would love to come back again!"
