  • Sea urchins my foot

"The whole villa experience was fabulous and has so much more potential, it's churlish to find fault. The chef, maids, gardeners, guards and Nondo are the villas best assets, couple this to an unrivalled location and utopia beckons ! Some furnishings are tired and the pool design is not conducive to swimming or safe access, rubber mating would solve the problem. We made much use of the "speed" boat and 4x4 at our disposal, Nondo being in charge of them both. The only real downer are the sea urchins which abound, making sea swimming impossible."

  • Great house, Great staff!

"We just completed a 1-week stay at Zanziblue and had a wonderful time! The house was perfect for our family-group of 8 people. The beach-access was wonderful, the beds were comfortable, and we loved having air-conditioning in the bedrooms! My son loved sleeping upstairs in the open-air "loft". A couple of other notes... The owner, Cristina, was great to work with and very responsive. The house has easy policies -- just be respectful and treat it like your house. Like, there's a stocked drink-cooler and we enjoyed the policy of simply paying for the drinks, at cost, at the end of the week. And finally, the staff was incredible. The house manager, Bahati, was always so helpful and pleasant. And the chef, Khusein, made the best food! Breakfast comes with the rental (which you can make yourself, or have the chef prepare it). We also had the chef make dinner on most nights (for a reasonable additional cost), and it was incredible! We highly recommend it! My only nitpick was that the wifi was a bit flaky. But I tried the wifi at several places in Zanzibar and it was flaky everywhere -- nobody had good wifi, so I can't fault the house for that. So, the house was great, and made our vacation in Zanzibar a wonderful, memorable time!"

  • Loved this property with its perfect views

"My husband and I stayed here for a month (24 Jan to 24 Feb). The house was lovely for two people. Comfortable with a large bedroom and plenty of space for 2 people. Simply furnished in local style. The villa functioned perfectly for the whole month and we were looked after by Salum, who was a fantastic host and organised whatever we wanted. He visited nearly daily to ensure all was well. The house has wonderful views of the Indian Ocean with its constantly changes colours depending on the tide, sun and mood. I cooked regularly, Salum would take us to Kinyasini market to stock up on vegetables for the week. The rest of our shopping could be done at the supermarket in Kiwenga. There is also an Italian shop for expensive pasta, cheeses and coffee. You can buy wine in a local shop and vegetable along the strip (very local). One could buy a few vegetables, water, chapatti's, some bread rolls and loo paper in the Kairo village shops (2). Mango's and other fruit from from the beach sellers. We bought tuna and other fish straight off the fishermans boats. We went to the larger supermarket and wine shop in Stone Town a couple of times. The local village is poor but the people lovely. There are a few Tourist shops beside the house, Gucci next door was very helpful. We liked staying virtually in the village. When I didn't cook we ate at Zan View a few minutes away on the hill, also Shooting Star great place for a sundowner and dinner. The best place to eat however is 25 minutes walk down the beach or get a taxi.An Italian called Pesce Birichino, a small place on the beach. Fantastic fish and the best prawns I have ever eaten. Probably best to book as it gets busy. We loved staying at Villa Stefy with its wonderful views and beautiful bougainvillea. There was a misunderstanding about the local Tourist Tax, not sure whether the mistake was HomeAway or the owners, however it was resolved. Have taken 1 star of my rating because of this. We had an amazing stay. Asante sana Salum and thank you Stefania for our gifts and our stay at your house."
