  • Beautiful!

"We were 3 couples staying and it was perfect! We cooked in several meals and we had all what was needed to prepare full course meals. We enjoyed the hot tub and fires. We sat on the decks every morning and every evening. They was so much deck space! We loved the swing too! The views were spectacular! We could see the mountains from the deck as well as from the observatory. We spent some afternoons having wine/beer/appetizers before dinner at the deck of the observatory. We hit it just right to see the fall foliage on the Aspen trees! It was so relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful at the cabin, that we couldn't wait to come home from a day of exploring! We also enjoyed morning hikes on the property. We felt like we were the only people around for miles! and I think we were! We all felt spoiled and content with our stay at your beautiful, peaceful, cabin and the wonderful exploring we did in Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Two Jack Lake, Lake Minnewanka, etc. Can't wait to come back again, Thank you for sharing your Canadian Paradise. Always Love Well, Melissa, David, Paul, Sandy, David and Laura P.S. Lana was great in checking us in. The Cabin was spotless. Prompt response while booking etc. Would recommend to family and friends alike. Just remember it is about 1 1/2 hours from Banff but it was well with the drive to stay her for us. We loved the beauty and seclusion we had here."

  • Awesome getaway

"We came for a girl's weekend and We're nothing but impressed. The photos don't do the interior justice- it's clean and well maintained. We had a slight issue with the hot tub but we had contacted someone on call and got it resolved quickly. The location is private but close enough to neighbors that you feel safe. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils, pots and pans. There was also plenty of CDs, DVDs and games to keep us entertained. The cleaning fee was high but otherwise we had no complaints and will be coming back!"

  • A most beautiful and well-appointed VRBO...

"Carmen and Glen have created what is perhaps the perfect VRBO. The wooded glen where the Gatehouse is located could not be more idyllic and its proximity to Mt. Robson is thrilling beyond the telling of it. The Gatehouse is *perfectly* oriented toward Mt. Robson. That lovely hulk of a mountain fills your heart with joy. I don't need to review the house - read the other reviews and look closely at the photographs - it's all there and accurate and right. I want to talk about the details. The log fence, for instance, must have cost a fortune and it makes the place seem so much more snug and secure - it is literally a "hug." The kitchen is the best supplied that I have ever seen in a VRBO. It sports an electronic instant-read thermometer (a must have in my kitchen) a potato peeler, a bamboo cutting board, a roasting pan w/rack, other pyrex baking dishes, tupperware, dish clothes - rare in other VRBOs - really all the things you'll need to create just about anything your heart (stomach) desires. There are small appliances: a powerful hand-mixer, a stick blender and a regular blender and a full-sized electric griddle with oil catch. Happily there is an electric tea kettle and a nice (clean) tea pot that is big enough to serve 4. I mention again that this is so rare in most VRBOs that it must be noted and applauded - loudly - Tea Drinkers Rejoice! The shower is less than ideal to me. It was chic a few years ago to place your shower - often surrounded by river rock - anywhere you took a fancy. I don't like to have water splashed about, I always feel I am damaging the sills - "sill"y, of course - but the bathroom does have ambient heating in the floor so that it dries quickly. We passed through Jasper and took advantage of the terrific Bear's Paw Bakery and went a few times into Valemount. They have a full-sized (somewhat unfriendly) IGA but they also have another terrific bakery - The Swiss Bakery. Sylvia - the owner - is an adorable creature and Dave's Funky Goat Food Truck served the VERY BEST poutine we had this trip! No contest! The mountains surrounding Valemount are stunning. Other have mentioned the noise from the nearby road. You can't see it really - there are trees between you and it - and I slept in the loft on the right - away from the road - so I could not really hear it either. But my partner - in the left loft - heard the traffic a bit. If you travel with a Marpac Dohm DS Sound Machine - every traveler should - then you'll have no problem at all..."

  • Hikers Heaven in Banff - the Return!

"We have come back to Dolores' studio for the 2nd year in a row and it did not disappoint! The studio is perfect for easy access to town without having to deal with the crowd all the time. Easy access to many hikes in the wonderful Rockies. Mount Rundle and Tunnel mountain hikes are close by and it is always a pleasure to chill out on the decking chairs after a long walk. Dolores is a wonderful host and make you feel right at home."
