  • A great visit in a beautiful condo

"We have just returned to Nova Scotia after a month in Peggy's beautiful condo. The condo was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The skylights and large windows made it bright even on a rainy day. The condo was the best equipped of any condo we've ever stayed in, both in terms of equipment and supplies. The kitchen had every pot, pan, dish, and coffee maker that you coulld want. In addition, the condo was supplied with paper towels, toilet tissue, serviettes, cleaning supplies (for both kitchen and bath), spices, and extra paper and ink for the printer. We were so impressed by that. The area was beautiful and we loved the view of the ocean and islands . It was peaceful and quiet. We certainly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend this property. Mary-Lee"

  • A Lot to Like...

"There’s a lot to like about this spacious, well-furnished lake house that we stayed at for three days in May. There were just the two of us, so we only used a portion of the house during our stay. You could see Lake Cowichan (and the mountains on the other side of the lake) from much of the interior of the house as well from the large front deck. The extensive grounds leading down to the lake are well cared-for and it was fun to ride back and forth to the waterfront with the golf cart. The docks weren’t in position for the season yet, so we didn’t attempt to carry the paddle boat down to the lake. There are many options for relaxing outside the house (in fact, the choices were a little overwhelming—we counted 12 different places to sit or sit and eat on the grounds and deck). The kitchen was outfitted well and we enjoyed making our own meals (especially after picking up groceries at the amazing Saturday Farmer’s Market in Duncan). Because the house is off the grid and has a unique water system there were a number of special instructions we had to follow during our stay, including daily flushing of the water filter in the crawl space below the house. The owner took the time to show us what needed to be done when we arrived (but I’d have appreciated a little more information about these requirements in the listing.) We had a few minor issues with this lovely accommodation, which would be useful to know before booking: The last 4 kms of the road to the house is gravel, which mades the last part of the journey dusty and slow in our small car. This also kept us from heading out for many local excursions. Guests have to bring our own sheets and towels, which we found irksome. We don’t have king size sheets so had to make do with flat queen sheets from home, that didn’t fit the bed in the master bedroom. No kleenix or paper towels were supplied, so we had to purchase our own. Although we paid a significant cleaning fee, guests are asked to vacuum or sweep before leaving, which doesn’t seem fair. The house doesn’t have a washer and dryer (not that the listing claims that it does), but I imagine this would make longer stays more challenging. The house and location are lovely and we really felt like we got away from it all. While we do plan to come back to explore this area again in the future, we’ll be looking for other accommodation to better suit our needs for the price we paid."

  • beautiful and quiet

"I stayed at Timmerhouse with a friend late in July. The cottage is beautiful as is the setting. The owners are close by and accessible but the house is quite private. We were able to just relax and enjoy the view from the patio. We are definitely going back!"

"We arrived Saturday afternoon after flying in Friday night at 12:00 am into Victoria and spending the night near the airport, which was not a great experience, then sat in traffic for hours, so when we arrived at our condo, we were so excited to see how beautiful it was, the view was picture perfect and the condo with the upper and lower level was perfect for us. My brother and sister inlaw and husband told me how impressed they were for the place I booked for us. I did a lot of research to look for a great place, and it was better then we even expected. We were gone a lot, whale watching, zip lining, fishing and hiking and seeing the sites, so we were gone a lot, which we could have spent more time there, the grounds were beautiful, and the pool was nice, but we had never been to Vancouver Island and had lots of things we wanted to do. The only negitive was on our last day there, we had nothing planned and stayed by the pool and area. We planned on just grilling in that night but there was a group who had reserved the grill area on the patio from 5:30-7:30 for a party, that was fine, but when we went out to grill at 4-4:30 they already had it all set up on the tables and the space was unusable. Their guests didn't arrive until6:00, so this was a little inconsiderate to other guests, I thought. There are other grilling areas but the grills are very small. That was the only negitive experience we had. I would highly recommend this condo to all! Very beautiful and beautiful view! Thanks Pat!"
