  • Vancouver Island Lodge will not dissapoint you

"This was my second time at VIL the first was last summer with my buddies for a 3 day 4 night salmon, halibut and crabbing charter and we had so much fun and success with Ryan that my wife and I returned last week to stay at the lodge and go "prawning" and what an adventure it was. We stayed for 5 nights and caught our limit of 800 prawns which we packaged up and brought home on the plane with us. The flight out from Calgary took just over an hour and we were on the water shortly after landing which was a bonus. The lodge was clean, very comfortable and beautifully decorated, you can cook your own meals in the large well equipped kitchen but our favourite was the 17 Mile House Pub. The location offers fabulous views from the decks and living room with spacious grounds and amenities. It really has it all and the Galloping Goose trail is accessible right from the lodge, we went on several great hikes with spectacular views along the coast. Ryan is an excellent guide and his boats provided a safe, first class experience on the water and Ryan is the perfect host having grown up in the area. We would highly recommend that you check out a fishing package or family get away. In fact we liked it so much we have rebooked another trip out there."

  • Just what we needed!

"Sue and Chris took great care of us- comfy, private room, lovely breakfasts. We were even greeted with fresh-baked bread. Drive to Ganges was quick and easy, surroundings peaceful. Small extras like a kettle in the room and a bag with towels for the beach made it even better. The bed is super comfortable, shower hot, space relaxing. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend away on the island. Thanks for a great getaway!"

  • Great quiet place to come home to after biking all day.

"My husband and I wanted a place that was near the bike trails and close to downtown. We did not want to get a car and just wanted to enjoy as much of our time riding around the city. We had biked Lopez Island and then took the ferry to Sydney and road to the house that was in a quiet neighborhood right off the bike trail. We came into the house with beautiful flowers on the table and in the bathroom. Our host Laurel was wonderful. We used their bikes that they provided. It would be a bit of a walk to downtown but not with bikes. We rode to Butchart Gardens one day. There is also a bus stop at the bottom of the hill. We used the bus one night when I wanted to get dressed up. I cooked most meal at home. There was a grocery store and a wine store at the bottom of the hill. The little backyard would have been great if the weather was better. The place looks like it was newly remodeled. Very clean!!"

  • The Very Best There Is.

"Our two month stay in Jo-Anne's beautiful house was sublime. Everything is perfect; from the wonderful bed (which cured my back problem) to the amazing kitchen which is so wonderfully stocked with every kitchen aid you can imagine. I arrived with the flu and usually the only place you want to be when you are sick is in your own home and bed. Well, I felt at home and was very grateful for the beautiful sheets and lovingly decorated home. The house is immaculate and I really don't know how Jo-Anne keeps it thus. Everything from the freshness of the paintwork down to the kitchen equipment; it was as though we were the first people in the house. Fresh plants were through the house and some wine and nibbles to greet us. November and December were the coldest and snowiest months for decades, yet we were as warm as could be as there is an efficient forced air system and a beautiful gas fireplace. Jo-Anne even offered to decorate the home with Christmas decorations if we had so wished. Before the snow arrived, Jo-Anne arrived with salt to sprinkle on the drive way - what service. The view is beautiful and it must be heavenly in the summer. I wish I could give it a six star rating as it is perfection. Thank you Jo-Anne. We contacted Jo-Anne personally for this booking and it made is much simpler."
