  • Amazing even in a storm

"We anticipated the weather to be stormy for the time that we were there and were cautious on the drive up. Upon arriving the view from the dining room took my breath away! The house was way bigger than I expected. With a large open kitchen, dining room and living room where you could look out at the ocean. Watching the waves and the brave surfers was a highlight! Point being, even in stormy weather the view and this property is incredible so don't let that deter you, and storm watching is really neat! Meters from the beach we walked along the shoreline-make sure you bring a rain jacket. I was super impressed and happy to find gum boots in the garage that we could borrow! :) very handy. I had a room downstairs which felt like my own suite. Beautiful rock fireplace and big windows and besy of all, the bed was sooo comfy. Really nice pillows, super comfortable bed which I was very grateful for. There are 3 bedrooms and a really neat little office area which could also sleep a couple people so there is plenty of space in this giant house. Did I mention it is also immaculate?! Super clean. 3 bathrooms. Washer/dryer. Feels secluded but it's only a few minute drive down the road before you hit restaurants and stores. I highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat!!"

  • Amazing view and increadible stay

"This is an amazing property. Large house with very flexible owner who communicates well with her guests. The property was exactly as expected. Some issues with the septic system, but this was communicated in advance. Not a major issue. The Oven did not work well. However, this was not a major issue and am sure the owner is working on getting this fixed. Specialized oven and difficult to find repair people for it. Beds were comfortable and large living room accommodated us perfectly. Thanks Sher for the use of your home!"

  • Stylish, comfortable and convenient

"We loved our three-week stay in this well-designed, bright and cosy one-bedroom apartment situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. The queen-sized bed is really comfortable and the heater is very efficient. The large shower head is a real luxury, as is the heated bathroom floor, and there are plenty of fluffy towels. It has a full kitchen with a large amount of cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots and pans. There are generous pantry provisions to welcome you. The Sidney shops are a short walk away, either via the main road or by the waterfront. The bus to the ferry or downtown Victoria is at the end of the street. It is so conveniently located. There is even a great local fish & chip shop a 5-minute walk away. Tara, Dan and the girls are lovely welcoming hosts. They were on hand if needed or just for a chat, but never intrusive. We were visiting my Mum, who lives a few streets away, and definitely plan to stay here during every future visit."

  • A Lot to Like...

"There’s a lot to like about this spacious, well-furnished lake house that we stayed at for three days in May. There were just the two of us, so we only used a portion of the house during our stay. You could see Lake Cowichan (and the mountains on the other side of the lake) from much of the interior of the house as well from the large front deck. The extensive grounds leading down to the lake are well cared-for and it was fun to ride back and forth to the waterfront with the golf cart. The docks weren’t in position for the season yet, so we didn’t attempt to carry the paddle boat down to the lake. There are many options for relaxing outside the house (in fact, the choices were a little overwhelming—we counted 12 different places to sit or sit and eat on the grounds and deck). The kitchen was outfitted well and we enjoyed making our own meals (especially after picking up groceries at the amazing Saturday Farmer’s Market in Duncan). Because the house is off the grid and has a unique water system there were a number of special instructions we had to follow during our stay, including daily flushing of the water filter in the crawl space below the house. The owner took the time to show us what needed to be done when we arrived (but I’d have appreciated a little more information about these requirements in the listing.) We had a few minor issues with this lovely accommodation, which would be useful to know before booking: The last 4 kms of the road to the house is gravel, which mades the last part of the journey dusty and slow in our small car. This also kept us from heading out for many local excursions. Guests have to bring our own sheets and towels, which we found irksome. We don’t have king size sheets so had to make do with flat queen sheets from home, that didn’t fit the bed in the master bedroom. No kleenix or paper towels were supplied, so we had to purchase our own. Although we paid a significant cleaning fee, guests are asked to vacuum or sweep before leaving, which doesn’t seem fair. The house doesn’t have a washer and dryer (not that the listing claims that it does), but I imagine this would make longer stays more challenging. The house and location are lovely and we really felt like we got away from it all. While we do plan to come back to explore this area again in the future, we’ll be looking for other accommodation to better suit our needs for the price we paid."
