"The property was every bit as good as the photos suggested and the location, set within a very quiet and smart residential area, was excellent, about 15 minutes drive into Victoria or $20 for a taxi. The biggest bonus is the decking area overlooking the beach, all set within a really beautiful and picturesque cove. Plenty of wildlife to be seen including Humming Birds and Herons but a fantastic bonus was spotting a family of Sea Otters whilst out in the canoe. Overall, we (two couples) had a wonderful, relaxing and comfortable stay."

  • Modern apartment in convenient downtown location

"The apartment enjoys a convenient location in downtown Victoria, five minutes from the Inner Harbor. We found the unit to be clean; in generally good order; adequately equipped, and accurately described in the listing. The building is safe and very secure with keys or passcodes required for the main entrance, elevator and apartment. We had rented a car for local trips and the included parking was especially helpful. Ryan met us on arrival to bring us into the car park and explain the keys and passcodes. He also provided some local dining recommendations that were helpful, especially breakfast at 'Jam', a couple of blocks distant, that we especially enjoyed. We were fortunate to enjoy perfect weather during our stay and were able to make use of the extensive balcony that fronts the apartment which is equipped with a barbecue, dining table and lounger. All in all, we were entirely satisfied with the apartment and have no hesitation in recommending the unit to other travelers."

  • Truly a home away from home.

"We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Mermaid Condo. As others have mentioned, Maureen meets you with a smile and will give you the info on the condo and any other questions you might have. The location is second to none, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go except Butchart Gardens. (Which the #75 bus will take you to or, if it's a Saturday, take the CVS tour late to take in the free concert & fireworks with a guaranteed late ride back home. You won't be disappointed.) The condo does get warm but if you pull down the blinds in the afternoon, open the windows & put the fan in the doorway you're golden. Someone had complained about the bed in a previous post & I'll be honest that I was a bit concerned, as I would be the one next to the wall, but the bed is very comfortable & was not an issue at all. We ate in all but one breakfast, unfortunately we didn't get to try "Jam" as there was a line all the way down the street. We did find "Nautical Nellies" to be the perfect last night dinner with good seafood & a great view. There is a market up Yates street which had everything we could want (and more) to have our own feasts at the condo after a long day of playing, while looking out at the harbor. If you cross the bridge & head to the left you'll find a wonderful walking/running path along the bay that makes for a perfect morning run (at first you'll be in front of the big resort but stick along the waterway and there is an entrance to a trail by the Spinnaker Restaurant that is wonderful). If you go across the bridge & go right you'll hit the Galloping Goose Rails to Trails bike path and can bike for hours. What an impressive bike system they have with water & bathrooms along the way. There are also a few cafes & coffee shops just off the trail. Can you tell we were busy & happy? Lastly, I have to commend the designers of this condo. We've lived in very small confines so I make note of design of such places. This condo is designed in such a way, that while it's small, it doesn't feel like it. There is so much storage with cubbies, drawers and closets that a traveler could never fill it & a single person living there would be more than comfortable. The sound proofing is great, we never heard a peep except one bang against the wall on our last evening. Overall, Maureen's Mermaid Condo is a clean, quiet, convenient, gem in the heart of a noisy tourist area that we recommend highly!!! Thank you Maureen"

  • Perfect lake house!

"Wow! What a great place! The house is spacious and bigger than the pictures show. Everything you could need (and more) is there. Richard is a fantastic host--from fielding all my questions, booking, and showing us around--a great great host! What can I say about the lake and allll the amenities available?? Amazing! The lake was the most perfect temperature to swim in. All of the lake toys and taki tiki bar were incredible. But the piece de resistance?? The princess barge--hours and hours and hours of enjoyment!! So fun was the barge that we hardly partook in any of the other fun things to do at the lake house. Thank you for letting us stay at your amazing home. We can't wait to be back! Lucky for us, that happens in just over a week ;)"
