  • Beautiful property in the Town of Tofino

"We have been to Tofino many times and have always stayed on the beach. We wanted to see what it was like to stay in town and this is the first time we have done so. Lucky for us as this was a great place to stay. We arrived a bit late the first evening because, although we live in Victoria, we had flown in from a weekend in Alberta and our plane had been delayed. This was no problem for Tom and Christine, and they were very accommodating. When we woke up the next morning, the views from the condo of Meares Island and Clayoquot (a protected Unesco site) were breathtaking. Eagles flew over our patio every day. The comings and goings of fishing trawlers, excursion boats and float planes were better than watching t.v. And speaking of t.v., although there isn't one in this condo, you won't miss it at all. There is too much to do and see in Tofino to bother with t.v. I took our teenage daughter to Mermaid Tales, the amazing local bookstore, and she read the whole time we were there (when she wasn't surfing or shopping in one of the cute local shops). The condo itself was lovely and the photos almost don't do it justice. And yes, you can lay in bed and enjoy the view - a real treat. We love to cook, and the kitchen and barbecue exceeded what you find in most vacation rentals. The only hitch for us was that the wifi didn't work well but Tom is aware of that and I'm sure it will be rectified (as best it can, as Tofino in general does not have good wifi). This is the only reason I didn't give the property 5 stars. I would certainly recommend this vacation rental."

  • Great location! Beautiful view! Excellent building!

"The suite is very well-appointed and well-maintained. Beautiful view of downtown. Easy walking distance to so many Victoria attractions, shops and restaurants. Building is very secure. Rooftop is amazing. Our first night was the Saturday of a long weekend and there was definitely an issue with noise downtown. After the weekend was done it was much better. Overall would definitely recommend."

  • Awesome home, great location ... perfect in every way!

"Family of five travelling from Seattle with the family dog found this property to be the perfect holiday get-a-way. The photos and property description are accurate. Owner (Karin) was responsive and helpful, reservations were easy and straight-forward. She met us at check-in and briefed us on the home and the area. The home is warm and inviting, well-appointed and will sleep many. The kitchen has high-end appliances and the BBQ grill on the back deck is a plus. This house is on Long Lake, with a small dock. We took our small boat (14-feet, 50 HP) and had a blast tooling around the small lake. As an aside, my 10-year-old and I caught many sizeable Rainbow Trout (2-3 pounds) and they were tasty! Loudon Park, just next door, has an excellent swimming beach and the water is clean and clear. Spent one day tripping up to Coombs, MacMillan Provincial Park and Englishman's River Falls - all within an hour's drive. Also nearby is Piper's Lagoon Park - great hiking; and, of course, Nanaimo's beautiful waterfront and harbor. We came away very pleased. Thank-you, Karin! Your property is awesome!"

  • Super Location...definitely NOT luxury as described

"Positives : The best thing this listing has going for it is the location and parking. It really couldn't be better if you want to walk the street and see the downtown and have a car. Living room with couch and two comfy chairs are nice although the fireplace is not easy to operate and when it did light there was not full ignition of the gas flame . For this reason we would say it really doesn't work. Listing this as a luxury property is definitely misleading. It appears the owners have not listened to the previous reviews as the same deficits still exist. The bed in the master is an old queen mattress on a king bed frame. The bed is hard and sags and the over size frame makes it difficult to get in and out of as you always have to remember to gauge for the size difference when getting in or out. Pillows are not comfortable, linens are cheap and definitely not luxurious. The mattress cover is extremely stained which we would not have known about but as were were asked to strip the beds ( even though we paid an $85 cleaning fee) before we left we saw the condition of the linens. Yikes , awful. The broom is so old that it is not useable as it's permanently bent over, tea kettle is gross. WORST of all the dishwasher is so loud it cannot be used while anyone is sleeping in either room OR when anyone is in the house. It's really like a train coming down the tracks and you have to yell over it! We could not use it. There are no ceiling fans and when the sun comes out this place is HOT with no air circulation. They do supply a dinky floor fan .....really? The second bedroom is an office with a bed in it, no counters , closet or table, advertised as an accommodation that sleeps four, but really not private enough for two couples as there is only a half bath on the other side of the apartment for the second bedroom. It would be ok for a couple of kids. All in all it seems like what is in the apartment are a mix mash of things just barely good enough for a students use in college and the other items seem to be left over from other tenant's occupancy. We only had 1& 1/2 rolls of toilet paper for our 5 night stay. There is a only a small bistro table and having a meal on it is neither comfortable or roomy enough especially if you were an older person. The amenities make this property just a good choice verses the truly excellent choice it could be with very little effort made ! Beware of really loud seagulls early in the AM !"
