  • Wonderful seclusion!

"I stayed with 7 of my paddling buddies for a five days and we all loved every minute of it. The house is not large but very cozy and it slept 8 adults comfortably. The master super king size bed was fabulous with all the windows and skylights. Hot tub was enjoyed by quite a few of us. We also were thrilled to see some "fall storm watching" right from the deck. Hiking Mt. Galiano is a must as well as the Bodega Ridge. We had too much wind to kayak so enjoyed these hikes immensely. Wouldn't have had time to do them otherwise, so things worked out really well. We paddled on the last day and did Montague Harbour and all the outlying islands, beautiful. We didn't get the time to do Gossip island so will have to come back! The home is well equipped and we enjoyed the wood stove in the evening. The only tricky part was the could use a little shaving off the centre hump and filling some pot holes. We had some SUVs and they did fine but the sedans were concerned although they did OK wth a few scratches due to avoiding the centre hump and consequentlly driving too close to the shrubbery. Thanks to our host for providing such a unique place in paradise. Mary and her paddling gang"

  • Location, location, location!

"Our adult family of 6 enjoyed a week's stay at this charming, rustic panabode with beautiful views of Montague Harbour. The sun set directly in front of the deck where we enjoyed our dinners each night. It is certainly peaceful and serene. The house has a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room for everyone. The decor is 70's time warp - which is part of the fun (remember cassette tapes?) The owner is very easy to deal with and answers your queries promptly. One minor problem is there is only one shower in the house and it is downstairs (the main living area and two bedrooms are upstairs) - so it was a bit of a scramble to have 6 adults scheduling showers. You are walking distance to the harbour where you can rent a boat, have lunch or rent a kayak. You are also walking distance to the best restaurant on the island (PILGRIMME). We enjoyed the resident heron who was on the dock each afternoon."

  • Amazing place for an easy-going family get-together

"We just finished renting both the chalet & the cottage for a week in late September to hold a small wedding (17 people in attendance). We were able to have the ceremony on the property (in the garden near the cottage) and then enjoy a week relaxing with family and friends. It was absolutely perfect for our needs: spacious, affordable, very private, with incredible views (we saw orcas from the property 3 separate times in one week) and a very easy-going, reasonable, flexible owner. The cottage is newer and fancier than the chalet, but both buildings have great views and were built thoughtfully in tune with the surroundings. The cottage is great for writing, yoga, and feels very peaceful and luxurious. The chalet is great for large, easy-going groups who don't mind a "lived-in" feel; some bedrooms are fancier and have better views than others, but the house has so much space everyone was able to relax and fully enjoy. Our group loved the whole property - one family member already arranged to rent it again next summer! Big kitchen and tables for family meals and board games, several decks, a hot tub with amazing views, many nooks and crannies to escape to. Pender Island has a lot to offer - we spent hours at Brooks Point and could have spent more. The summer farmer's market on Saturday is popular. We went hiking, kayaking/stand-up paddle boarding, visited various beaches...but really most of our time was spent relaxing with family and friends in the chalet. It is not easy to find a property this big on the Gulf Islands for this price. I know because I looked very hard! Excited to go back next summer."
