  • Best of BC

"This is a great place to stay in Smithers in spring. The lake often glasses off to a mirror and reflects the huge mountains above. Twin falls is just across the lake and very pretty. The cabin is made from huge logs, well sealed and heated. Bedrooms are a good size and kitchen is fully equipped like a home."

  • Peaceful

"OMG what a beautiful treasure!!!! We arrived and fell in love with your little peace of heaven. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back in a heartbeat. Peaceful setting to regroup and hard to leave. Thank you for sharing your farm with us. Loved watching nature at the doorstep. The cottage is amazing and had the best sleep on the whole vacation here. The fresh eggs were fabulous too. I would highly recommend this treasure to anyone looking for a comfortable place to relax. I can't say enough good things about the place. Grandpa's Guesthouse was like a home away from home. Thanks Leslie & Don"

  • Awesome!

"This place is unreal! We stayed here in February and we were completely blown away. It feels like you've stepped into a beautiful, peaceful spa that is a million miles away from the busy world. There are views of the beach and ocean from every angle of the house. We were even lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis on our first night there! The pictures on the website are great, but even they can't capture the beauty of the place and the surroundings. The sound of the waves rolling in at night or the morning is also amazing. You have access to endless miles of beach from your doorstep! The kitchen is very well stocked with essentials, including a BBQ on the back porch. We were there in the winter and most restaurants were closed, but we bought the most amazing fresh fish from Haida Wild at Masset Grocery everyday and had amazing home-cooked meals! The house heats up quickly with a propane-wood stove/fireplace, but also ventilates very well with ample windows that open. Haida Gwaii in general is a secret gem of unimaginable natural beauty, and so is Highwater House! We can't wait to come back. Jaime & Maciek"
