  • Excellent First VRBO Experience!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the penthouse suite (on the 20th floor) during a recent short family getaway to Kelowna. The spacious three-bedroom unit comfortably accommodated 9 of us (6 adults and 3 children) -- every bedroom has its own bathroom, which is a great bonus, especially when travelling with a large group. The view of the lake from the main balcony is the epitome of Kelowna's beauty -- we certainly enjoyed a couple nights on the balcony sipping on wine from local wineries while admiring the breathtaking view. We did make good use of both the indoor and outdoor pools during our short stay. As the Sunset Waterfront is in downtown, it is only a short drive to the internationally-known Mission Hill Family Estate and other family wineries along the wine trail as well as cherry orchards on Teasdale Road. Restaurants, beach, playground and water park are within walking distance of the Sunset Waterfront. Both the kids and adults enjoyed the evening strolls along the beach. Even though our visit to Kelowna was brief, we soaked in the simple life of what Kelowna has to offer as we don't do this often at home due to our hectic lives. Since we are discerning travellers, we have typically booked all of our travel accommodations with reputable hotel chains and resorts. We had always been skeptical with booking accommodations through VRBO, Airbnb and the like due to scandals reported by the media or experienced by folks not doing the proper research (i.e. travellers showing up to a ramshackle place or the home owner did not exist). This was our first VRBO experience and we must admit that with some skepticism in the beginning, the ending turned out to be quite pleasant and amicable between us and Mike, the owner. Mike greeted us at the unit, showed us around the unit and toured the building with us. He even made sure that we had all means necessary to contact him during our stay should any issue come up -- we certainly appreciated his cordial approach. We would definitely come back and recommend this place to our friends and family. Cathy"

  • Comforts of home perfect for a family mini vacation

"We had an amazing stay at Valley View Vista. The home is clean and looks newly updated with modern, stylish furnishings and paint. The bathroom is massive and the towels and linens hotel quality. The location was ideal for doing some wine touring along Boucherie Rd. and just far enough away from the busy city and main highway. The location is quiet and the views from the back deck beautiful. My 3 children (aged 6, 8 and 10) loved staying here and tried especially hard to be quiet and careful (as the place looked so nice and new!). My father, who had never been to Kelowna before, was really impressed with the home. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Kelowna/ West Bank to have a comfortable home away from home. My kids had one suggestion - an ice cream scooper in the kitchen. Thank you!!"

  • Great Family Vacation

"My husband, our two young children (4 and 2), my mother-in-law, and our older Aunt (visiting from the UK) stayed for two weeks in September 2015; prior to the renovation. Without the renovations we all enjoyed ourselves. The kids loved the beach and water. There was lots of beach toys, bikes, wagons, and even a kayak. We spent all day most days in the backyard on the beach - the shallow water was great for younger children. The kids loved watching the deer run across the back during breakfast, and making s'mores after the sun went down over the fire pit. We loved the convenience of having the beach in the backyard. So private! The rooms were spacious and everyone had enough room to move. We were close enough to downtown that my husband and I could sneak away for dinner - everything was walking distance. The only improvements I would comment on was the state of the floors and bathrooms, however that appears to have been resolved; and since the home is right beside the bird sanctuary the beach could have used a good rake. We have plans to return again. The owner was also great to communicate with and very accommodating."
