  • Quiet get away

"We (mom - dad and grownup daughter) had a wonderful stay at Sutherlands lovely riverside suite. It is very clean and you will find everything you need to have a good time. We did a lot of cooking and baking, and all pots and pans were available. Thank you so much to Sally and Harry for the welcome bottle of wine and cookies...and for help and good advises. There are a lot of steps to the unit, but it is worth the workout. Not recommended for people with walking disabilities. The building is in wood, so you hear the sounds in the house. The location is perfect in the nature - the only thing you hear outside is the rushing river beneath the balcony - and you are only 5 minutes walk from the Capilano Suspension Bridge. We also took a nice hike to the salmon hatchery located up the river. We saw bold eagles from the balcony, and had several visits by a black squirrel. We would love to come back in the spring or summer time, and sit at the beautiful balcony just enjoying the nature. Thanks again Sally and Harry. You are great hosts. :-)"

  • All around great rental!

"This is obviously a loved home. From the well stocked kitchen to the comfortable furniture you will be pleased & find a place to relax on any of the three levels. The fireplace, theater screen & beautiful top floor were my favorite! The easy instructions, prompt communication & simple check out were just a bonus! Walking distance to the sea bus, grocery store & market make it convenient & the gated community make it safe. Thank you for sharing your place with us, we made the most of it & will be returning~"

  • A beautiful retreat with easy access to all that Vancouver has to offer.

"A beautiful gem of a B&B by a river. A short and easy drive to access Vancouver's tourist highlights, yet a peaceful escape from the city hustle and bustle. Also affords walking trails beside the river. We had no problem finding it and there was no problem parking right at the B&B. Michael, our host was very knowledgeable and gave us great suggestions on where to go, what to see and how to get there. Breakfast was delicious, the bed comfortable and the place was spotless. I am sitting out on the balcony overlooking the river as I write this review. If and when we are able to return to Vancouver, I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. This place and it's host are exceptional. Thank you."

  • A beautiful home in a terrific location!

"We stayed in this Grouse Woods home for 5 days before our long haul back to Australia and we found its location and convenience to Vancouver perfect! Our hosts, Andre and his family, were friendly and helpful, easy to contact and detailed in their communications to ensure we had no problems during our stay. The house is beautiful in its surrounds and function. It's location in North Vancouver makes it perfectly situated to enjoy both what the city and the north has to offer! Day trips to Stanley Park, Granville Island, Whistler, Grouse Mountian and the Capilano Suspension Bridge (both within walking distance, Capilano a little further than Grouse Mountain) were easy and required no planning or forethought. The vicinity meant we didn't have to rush the kids through breakfast and still had plenty of time to enjoy the day! Perfect! The house is being beautifully renovated with quality fittings and furnishings so is very comfortable to come "home" too. The small touches that our hosts had included (quality towels and linen, comfortable bedding and seating, fully maintained kitchen with everything you could ever need, the very thoughtful wedding gift!) all made our stay just that little bit more fabulous, and the kids (both big and small!) LOVED the access to the trampoline, pool table and the media area, particularly the Wii and the Lego! We had a fabulous time in Grouse Woods and cannot thank Andre and his family enough for sharing their home with us. We would highly recommend a stay here!"
