  • Wonderful Stay!

"I absolutely LOVED my 2 month stay in the Carriage House! The property the house sits on is stunning with a rolling yard surrounded by forest and occasional deer visitors. Sitting out on the deck for your morning coffee or afternoon happy hour is simply divine! The carriage house is clean, private and has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Gibsons. I slept great every night in the pillow-top king sized bed and ate like a queen in the fully equipped kitchen. Everything you need to cook your own meals is there for you...even a selection of commonly used spices! The Carriage House is spacious and luxurious providing both style and utility. It has huge and beautiful full-log beams throughout and a stunning, tiled shower with great water pressure that looks out over the yard. The couch was comfy as ever and the Telus TV and Netflix were great for nights in when the "sunshine coast" does not quite live up to its name (I stayed through a particularly rainy March haha). I also really liked the coffee table that doubles as a massive Cribbage Board! My boyfriend and I also loved taking advantage of the board games provided with the place. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here either for a couples weekend getaway or for a long term stay. Mike is a fabulous host and is prompt to help when needed but otherwise takes a "hands-off" approach for the duration of your stay. The only thing that I would say about the property is that you probably want to have a car as it is ~2km out of town...I walked a few times and it took me about 25mins to get to downtown Gibsons. I would stay here again in a heart beat and would like to thank Mike for his hospitality and for being a tremendous host! I will definitely miss the Carriage House!"

  • Very Happy

"We just spent 4 days in this home and we were very happy. Mike was excellent to work with. He gets back to you quickly and was patient with me when work distracted me from getting him some paperwork. It was one of the most enjoyable holidays we've had in a long time. Things to know. -The home isn't overly large but has 3 distinct bedrooms as well as a big loft. 2 of the bedrooms are smallish but quite functional. The 3rd bedroom is quite large. It is an open loft on top of some steep stairs. There is also a loft at the top of a removable ladder that is perfect for kids old enough to climb a 10 foot ladder. Our youngest was 8 and it took her a couple minutes to get over her fear. I think the kids liked the idea of having their own private room where adults were not likely to visit. -The kitchen is big and wide open. It had everything that we needed. -The outside area is really large and the kids fished off the dock for hours. You can see the fish come right up to your hook. (Not a good location for crabs and we had no luck off the dock.) -There is no garbage service and you need to take garbage with you. Mike has some suggestions on where to take it. -There are a few smaller stores but you will want to bring groceries from home or on your way through Sechelt. -It is a great location to hike to the Skookumchuk Narrows. My wife and I ran to Skookumchuk Narrows directly from the house. It was almost exactly 1 hour round trip and we are In mediocre shape. You can consider driving to the trail head as opposed to starting right at the house. -If you can arrange a trip to Princess Louisa Inlet it is well worth it. -There is no cell coverage and the wifi coverage is inconsistent. It seemed like the wifi worked ok when only 1 device was connected and it was a time of day when neighbours might not be using the same bandwidth. You will be happiest if you just put away the devices although I know it's easier said then done. They have a home phone and it works well. Just remember you won't be able to call anyone from your party in the Egmont area on their cell phone even if you use the home phone. I would highly recommend this place to anyone unless you absolutely need to be connected to the Internet for work."

  • Great find!

"We had such a wonderful time. Place is a fantastic getaway to relax, see some beautiful views, and lots of activities. We went crab hunting on the beach, canoeing, and hiking all within 5-10 minutes of the cottage. Jon, the owner, was super impressive with his communication and recommendations. I would recommend this space to anyone. Thanks for a lovely vacation."
