  • Great place for a getaway!

"Beautiful and private spot overlooking the water! Cottage: The cottage itself is spacious and clean, with 3 bedrooms plus a "rock room" downstairs - we fit six people comfortably over the weekend. The kitchen is fully stocked (cooked all our meals no problem), living room spacious yet cozy with a wood firestove (perfect for evenings playing boardgames and drinking wine), and bedrooms are fully furnished (with extra beddings if needed). Only downside is the single bathroom, but again, it didn't pose too much of a problem for us. And the two in our group who tried the outdoor shower loved it. They keep the linens/towels/kitchen well stocked with necessities so all you need to bring is your clothes/food and you're good for the weekend =). Outdoor Space: The covered deck looks out to a beautiful view of the water through the trees. Such a serene setting. The deck has a comfortable outdoor couch (and a firepit!) which we enjoyed even in the middle of winter! There is also a hammock, outdoor dining spot, and a grill =). We also enjoyed the outdoor hot tub adjacent to the patio. Perfect for a relaxing and private dip at night. Location: Halfmoon Bay is less than half an hour away from Sechelt, but feels like a true getaway from the bustle of adjacent towns. There is a General Store (and liquor store) and Cafe nearby. Overall: This gem exceeded our expectations. It was a fantastic weekend! Thanks Hart =)."

  • Beautiful Home in a Fantastic Location

"We are a family of 4 with two boys, ages 11 and 13. We've spent many years coming to the Sunshine Coast, but this is the first time we've stayed in Halfmoon Bay. The location of Janey and John's house is perfect, centrally located for visiting other areas such as Sakinaw and Ruby Lake as well as Porpoise Bay and Roberts Creek. It is near Sechelt, which is convenient for groceries, stores, restaurants and coffee shops. Sargeant Bay, right at our doorstep, was so peaceful and calm in the mornings and bathed in sunshine for most of the day. The house afforded us lots of privacy from neighbours and space so when we had two additional guests stay with us, making 6 people in total, it didn't feel cramped at all. It has all the amenities a family would need, is tastefully decorated and clean. We enjoyed having our coffee on the deck in the mornings and watching the activity on the water sitting in the perfectly situated Stressless chairs. Janey and John were very welcoming hosts, taking us through the house and showing us where extra linens and supplies were. Our week was extremely peaceful and we were sad to leave."

  • A Home away from Home Experience

"I booked this cottage for my wifes 40th birthday, her must have was a fire pit on the beach and this place won. The view was incredible as soon as we showed up, there was even a deer and its baby walking through the yard. The cottage was very secluded and we never heard anything from the houses around us. The cottage itself had all the amenities of home and more. It was the type of experience that as soon as we got there we knew we wanted to go back. Everything Todd said about the cottage as well as the directions to get there were bang on, the cottage was very clean and the queen bed was extremely comfortable. We bought some groceries on the way in to town and cook most of our meals there. Even though it rained or was cloudy most of our stay we still had a blast. There is a staircase down to the secluded rocky beach lit up with a few lights. There was a covered wood pile close to the fire pit, a couple of wooden chairs too. You cannot go wrong sitting by the fire overlooking the view of the ocean and Texada island. During the summer and fall there is a Farmers market in Sechelt, we quite enjoyed that, and its not too far away. A bit closer there is Lavernes Grill, the milkshakes are old fashioned and are killer, the fish n chips were so fresh it was crazy, you can taste it with every bite. Also, if you enjoy fishing there is a dock at Irvines Landing plus a bunch of lakes on the drive in, in the very least, sit by the shore and take in the view. Lastly, the hot tub made the trip, whether it was a morning soak or relaxing after dinner staring at the stars, it was all so good. My wife and I had a blast and we are already looking forward to our next stay at the cottage. Thanks Todd for having us."
