"The owners of this property made a dream come true for my family. We spent summers on Savary (at the Web Hallauer cabin). When my mother passed, my siblings and I wanted to return to our summertime getaway and savor some memories of Mom. The owners went above and beyond to open up their cabin before 'the season' started. My brother, sister and I (and families) spent 4 wonderful memory-packed days. It had been 40 years since our last summer trip and it was WONDEFUL to see that Savary was exactly as we remembered. Barbara, the caretaker, was there to meet us and checked in several times during our stay and we had an added benefit of being able to reminisce about Savary in the '70's. The Cottage in the Woods was a perfect cottage. It had all the necessary kitchen tools to make up yummy meals of clams, oysters, steaks, ribs. Even had the largest cast iron skillet I've seen. Used it every day for big breakfasts. (I wanted to take it home!!) Beds were comfy and the living room was cozy. Had the fire going in the morning - with a hot cup of Kona coffee.. Perfect days!! Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts for making a memory come back to life. The owners generosity in opening up the cottage early made a dream come true."

  • One of our best getaways

"Our family of 4 adults (and 1 dog) stayed for 3 nights and couldn't have asked for a better time. Dave and Cheryl were so friendly and helpful. Let us know of an area to run the dog & even a place, for us to eat on the way home. We had dinner at the Bearspaw Restaurant and enjoyed the food and such welcoming hospitality. Everyone so friendly. The Mountain Thyme Getaway is a great relaxing place to stay. Our adult children thought it was one of the best places we have stayed in years!!!"

  • Fabulous Stay

"Our stay was fantastic! Felt just like home with everything you need for comfort. We were in Richmond for our daughter's wedding and it was the perfect distance from the venue. We parked underground and on the street. The only downfall was the stairs, as we had one of our family on crutches and an elderly person who found the amount of stairs difficult. My husband and I would definitely stay again. The view of the river and the tugboats very peaceful!"

  • Vey comfortable

"A comfortable and clean cottage style home. Bedrooms were a decent size, the layout made it a great place to share between families. Since Port Renfrew has no cell service I think WIFI would be a good addition to the cottage. (We had 20 people gathering in Port Renfrew, most staying at the Wild Coast Cottages, and we were out of the communication loop by not having WIFI) We walked to the Gateway Marina and to the beach across the bridge, so good proximity to things. The General store is only a few doors down."
