  • Lovely spot to stay over Christmas

"We were blown away when we walked into the cottage and it was decorated for Christmas! A lovely surprise and shows the caring attitude of the owners. This cottage is very convenient to both St. George (St. Andrew's, St. Stephen, etc.) and Deer Island. It is warm and welcoming and has been decorated with care and attention. And, big bonus, the bed is comfortable! We will definitely be staying at this lovely property again, and again."

  • Spectacular Location

"We had a fabulous week here in June 2016. Upon arrival we quickly realized that the location was actually more spectacular in person than can be captured in photographs. The sounds of the crashing waves at high tide were mesmerizing. And speaking of tides, for first time visitors to the Bay of Fundy, seeing the 20 foot plus swings from low to high tide was a wonder. The house itself was exceptional. First, it was extremely clean and well stocked with towels and paper products. Second, except for the bathrooms, all rooms have a great view of the water. And as others have mentioned, the sounds of waves at night made for restful sleeping. Third, the lack of television and internet access was, for us, a bonus. This was the ultimate place to enjoy being unplugged. The location, midway between St. Andrews and Saint John, was a bonus when it was time for excursions. And we spent a super day traveling to Grand Manan Island via the ferry located only 20 minutes from the house. Also, we traveled to the house from the States via the new Portland, ME to Yarmouth, NS ferry and then on New Brunswick and the house via the Digby, NS to Saint John ferry. The car ferries were fun, fast, scenic, and added to the adventure. We'll certainly travel on the ferries again. Everything about staying at this house exceeded our expectations -- and our expectations were high. In all likelihood, we'll be back. Thanks Doug!"

  • Great spot for families to stay

"We stayed her in July 2016 with our 2 kids ages 9 and 11. The house is well-equipped and very comfortable, our kids preferred to sleep upstairs on the pull out but the 2 bedrooms and bathroom in the walkout basement provide lots of room for families or groups (teens would like the separate space). The house is on a cul-de-sac so the area is very quiet, at night you hear the waves on the beach so sleep comes easy. It is right by New River Beach, but we never went as the kids were happiest playing on the beach at the house, which we nearly always had to ourselves. We saw porpoises and seals in the cove, I suggest renting a kayak to be able to get on the water (local outfitters will drop it off). Barnaby Head Trail is right next door and makes for a fantastic short hike, it takes about 2 hours so bring some snacks if you have younger kids to keep them happy. We went to St John, Dipper Harbour, and St Andrews (fishing and whale watching) for day trips. Local seafood from the 4Cs and blueberry pies from roadside stands were highlights at mealtimes. Shawnee was easy to deal with and very helpful with area information. Upon returning home I promptly missed my plans being dictated by whether the tide was going in or going out. There is a lot to do in the Fundy area (we never made it to Deer Island or Grand Manan) and will certainly stay here again if we return."

  • Magical Property on The Bay of Fundy.

"This beautifully efficient and comfortable cottage is situated within steps of the high tide mark. Having been fortunate enough to have stayed here numerous times throughout the years, I have experienced the broad spectrum of its ever-changing nature. Each part of the spring/summer/fall season brings with it certain visual, auditory and sensory delights. One needs to work with nature and be ready to apply sunscreen lotion and, at times, mosquito repellent… which are thoughtfully provided. From the balcony on the top floor of the cottage, one feels as though one is on the deck of an ocean liner. The incoming tide produces a delightful sound, while the outgoing tide enables one to explore the vastness of the ocean floor. The smell of the sweetgrass is intensified by the full sun while the tidal pools to one side of the property fill to overflowing with the incoming tide… particularly during full moons and downpours. The well-equipped kitchen with its scenic sitting area is on the top floor, along with a half-bathroom. The two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed are on the entry-level floor, along with a full bathroom which houses a washer-dryer unit. There are plenty of accouterments in the bathroom cabinets, should one have forgotten important items at home. In the hallway linen closet, there are plenty of clean, fluffy bath towels, and in each bedroom closet, one can find extra pillows and blankets. The cottage is most thoughtfully zoned for temperature control at the turn of a knob. A stay here, be it long or short, leaves one with a sense of well-being and peace. I eagerly look forward to many more visits here and many more delightful experiences at this Magical Kingdom by the Sea. EH from LI, NY"
