  • Great spacious spot, friendly and helpful host.

"The house was more spacious than we had expected, perfect for myself, my baby, my sister and parents. The three bedrooms were great. Very clean. Well equipped kitchen, all appliances great quality and in good working order. It was nice to have the deck out back. Wifi was handy (although a bit slow but with multiple people using it at once that may be expected if one was trying to videochat or stream). Comfy beds (my dad noted one was in need of wheel locks, so careful when plopping down up there). There is a smaller bedroom in between two big ones that is cozy and has no windows (great for sleeping in) and could use some hooks to hang clothes or a towel on. Bathroom was great with a nice shower head, good water pressure and easy temperature control. For those with mobility issues, I note that all three bedrooms are located upstairs (which are a tad narrow as it is a nice older house). It was easy to find and very handy to downtown (we had a vehicle, might be a bit of a hike on foot or tricky navigating if you are unfamiliar with St. John's) There are a couple stores within short walking distance for anything you may need. VIctor is just next door and is attentive and helpful should anything arise. Great spot, great value! This was my parents' first vrbo/air bnb rental and based on this positive experience, they are definitely keen to go this route over a hotel next time they travel."

  • Amazing Family Vacation

"Having never travelled out east before we were really excited to go to Newfoundland. After an exhaustive online search we came across Rob and Francine's Saltbox. The description and pictures online were amazing and when we arrived they were so accurate. The cottage was bright and clean . Its closer to the ocean then you think. Sitting on their deck watching the sunset over the Atlantic was beautiful. The location of the cottage is perfect, 15 minutes away from the airport and St. John's. yet when you're in Bauline you feel like your hours away from the city. The east coast trail is minutes away from the Saltbox where we enjoyed hiking and picking wild blueberries and raspberries! The Saltbox is the perfect location to travel the Irish Loop, Portugal Cove, Signal Hill and Cape Spear. It was nice to come home to the cottage after a full day of site seeing and hiking, making a fire and dinner. The kitchen was also well stocked. We look forward to going back next year as the accommodations were perfect. Thank again Rob and Francine for sharing your Saltbox with us."

  • Excellent

"Excellent house. It was and cozy and extremely well kept. Owner was very nice and she was there to greet us. Great community, secluded and scenic. With lots to do in the surrounding area (during the summer)."

  • Great property in a great location!

"We recently stayed at Ken and Emily's place and it was great! Very clean, quiet and well equipped with everything you need! Emily and Ken are great to deal with and even had a very well stocked fridge when we arrived - a very nice touch. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay in St. John's."
