  • Beautiful spot on the harbour

"Five friends came down to ring in the new year. There were a bunch of very impressive fire work shows that went off around the bay and we had a view of the whole thing. The kitchen was well equipped and the house is close to the East Coast Trail. Very comfortable and spacious. Lucy even called us on our way down to check in with us! She is a lovely lady. We would stay here again!"

  • Genuine Newfoundland experience

"This charming and cosy cottage was noteworthy in being very well supplied; fully stocked kitchen, nice AV setup (although we were more inspired to read as the book shelves were quite interesting), comfortable living room and comfortable beds. The beautiful setting provided us good access to the East Coast Trail which was our main activity. The exterior could use a coat of paint to add to the charm, and if the large cedar is removed it would give clear sight lines to the beach. George was very responsive and hospitable. When we asked where we might find fresh fish he connected us with one of the locals who took us out on the water where we fished and saw amazing wild life sights; it was magical."

  • Newfoundland Hospitality

"From the moment the driveway gate was opened, I was captivated and simply couldn’t wait to explore the beautiful surroundings. Imagine the Alantic Ocean in the front yard! The house was outstanding, designed and decorated to match the beauty of the landscape. Post and beam ceiling, wall fireplace, floor to ceiling windows to view the ocean, inviting kitchen, laundry facilities, generous and spacious bedrooms and a bathroom out of a magazine layout! The deck was inviting any time of day from watching for whales as the fog lifted in the morning to being star struck with the evening sky as the Milky Way appeared overhead. There was no need to venture very far as the ocean beach was at the end of the lane way. The west coast trail at the end of the driveway and the property with its viewing points and a beautiful pond to sit by. The Newfoundland hospitality started before leaving. Sandra was so very helpful, everything fell into place with ease. Cannot wait to journey back next year with my family. Many thanks Sandra and Frank!"

  • Peter and Irene, Manitoulin Isalnd

""From an Island to an Island"...a great location and a fully equipped cottage..., now that we left a "lobster pot". We travelled the whole Avalon Penninsula on day trips and a run up to Trinity, for the pageant, as well as chasing iceburgs up in Bay de Verde and then back home to a very comfortable bed, each day. St John's was close and we made several trips in for a closer look at the big city and meet some friends ( some who own The Rocket Backery on Water Street, which is a must to visit for food and music) and then back to the quiet cove. This was our home for two weeks and only because the capelin rolled in late, the very last day was filled with whale watching and quite a show it was...even right at the shoreline beneath the cottage deck. Just down at the end of the road is a fishing dock and ramp...a great place to meet local fishermen and women and with luck you might find some sea life to purchase. In my case, because I helped a fisherman put in his boat, he took me back to his place and gave me a bag of freshly caught and filleted cod. We were also very fortunate to participate in a "dig" across Tors Cove...which can be seen from the deck, to the left of the cottage, across the water. Yvonne and Boyd were great hosts and shared their family history within the area. Third trip to Newfoundland!"
