  • Absolutely fabulous

"We stayed at Anchor Rock for a week in July. It was our first trip to Newfoundland and I simply cannot think of a single bad thing to say other than Air Canada lost our luggage but that was hardly the fault of anyone in Nfld. And the Newfoundlanders could not have been kinder, lending us clothing, helping with the retrieval, anything that would make our stay more comfortable. We have rented many houses over the years, in several countries, and I can honestly say this was the best equipped house we have ever experienced. It was quiet, clean and well furnished, the beds were comfortable, there was nothing you could want that was not provided. Anything you could want in the kitchen was at hand, including condiments, dry goods, even chocolates! We sat on our deck and watched the whales in the bay every day, bought crab from the fish processing plant (which was outstanding), travelled around the entire Avalon Peninsula and saw more species of whales than we ever expected. BUT we never saw a moose, even though everyone cautioned us to watch out for them! And we looked! Darlene and Randy who care for you and the house are exceptional hosts and can not do enough for the visitors. In short, it was a perfect holiday and I cannot recommend the house, the people and the province highly enough."

  • Best View in Newfoundland

"My first reaction was that we were a little isolated from St. John's but after one day I completely changed my mind. St. John's is only a short drive away and the views from the house were spectacular. I don't think there is a place in St. Johns that could offer whale and bird watching on a daily basis. We saw more whales from the deck than we did on the tour boat. The house was extremely comfortable with all the conveniences of home. After touring around during the day I was quite happy to come back to Fort Amherst and watch the boats come in and out of the harbour while we prepared dinner. The house is a short drive away from many popular tourist spots, i.e.: Cape Spear and Signal Hill. I would also highly recommend the Zip Line Adventure in Petty Harbour for the more adventurous types. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer."

  • Great value!

"The description and photos are very accurate! Robin was very responsive over email and provided his cell during my stay to make sure everything was okay. The space was clean, tidy, had soft sheets/towels, fully furnished kitchen, and bonus: the living room had a great selection of DVDs to watch! My family of 4 really enjoyed the privacy, location and overall experience with our first VRBO booking! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!"

  • Awesome weekend

"Stayed for a long weekend with 8 adults, for a snowmobile trip. Was an awesome chalet in all respects. Huge kitchen and open spaces, large bedrooms, clean, all the amenities. Have stayed in several other chalets on the resort, both in winter and summer, and this is the best one, IMO. In fact we did not even care that the snow conditions this year were not ideal, more time in the chalet! This was my second time in this particular chalet, stayed a few years ago with 3 or 4 families with young kids, for a ski weekend, and it was perfect for that too! Will definitely book again for next year's snowmobile trip!"
