  • Very nice

"The website pictures do not do this place justice. From the pictures I thought it would be dark and gloomy but it is not that way at all. It has a very open floor plan, lots of windows, and a sweet little patio out back. Great location, lots of parking, nice appliances. I would have liked to see some patio furniture to enjoy the patio more but I realize these would only be usable for a few weeks a year in St. John's. Also a few things like a mixer and hairdryer would have been nice. And a pancake turner. But these are very minor things. All in all a most excellent rental."

  • St John's Home Away from Home

"What a pleasure to stay in this lovely, well appointed home. Overlooking the harbour, close to downtown, and only minutes to my favorite hike up to Signal Hill, this was absolutely perfect. There were 6 of us (3 couples), and we all enjoyed watching the ships come in, walking to all of the in-town sites, the shopping and the general east coast culture. Thank-you for sharing your home with us."

  • Location, location, location

"Lowry's Place is an ideal base for exploring St John's. It's so convenient, being in reasonable walking distance of everything you might want to see - we even walked to Signal Hill and Quidi Vidi (and the Avalon Mall though that was quite a long way!) Bannerman Park opposite the house is a bonus and there is even a corner shop within 100m (and a medical equipment store even closer should you need to hire crutches!) There were 5 of us staying and it was so good to have a keypad lock on the house, meaning we could each come and go as we pleased. The house has good bedrooms and lovely soft bedding. We enjoyed hot weather which was a bonus, but the downside was that the 2 back bedrooms' windows wouldn't open so the warm nights were uncomfortable (and we couldn't find any fans). The house was well-equipped and it was lovely to have a small patio at the back. Things we would have liked were a nice milk jug, a large teapot, a large cafetière and a pepper mill! Thanks for helping make our time in St John's unforgettable! It was brilliant!"

  • So happy we picked Breakwater cottage!

"What a wonderful stay at Breakwater Cottage! Initially, we were unsure of staying outside of St.John's but we couldn't be happier with our decision. We have stayed in many VRBO's all over the world, and I am not sure that I have ever had an easier or more seamless stay. The cottage is exactly as pictured and was spotlessly clean. I am a bit OCD and usually need to wash all of the dishes and quite often the floor and more, but here, we arrived and had nothing to do! The towels and bed linens were wonderful. The bed fairly comfortable. The kitchen is more than we could have hoped for with absolutely everything you would need to cook a gourmet meal. The cottage itself is quiet, and the heating works great! Although we opted to have the heat off and used the wood burning fireplace. The internet worked well (cutting out only during the crazy winds on our last day) The drive into St. John's is easy and beautiful. The village of Petty Harbour is beautiful and the view from the cottage is breathtaking. The owners were very accommodating and although we never met, were available by phone and email for any questions/concerns. Highly recommend!!"
