  • Best View in Newfoundland

"My first reaction was that we were a little isolated from St. John's but after one day I completely changed my mind. St. John's is only a short drive away and the views from the house were spectacular. I don't think there is a place in St. Johns that could offer whale and bird watching on a daily basis. We saw more whales from the deck than we did on the tour boat. The house was extremely comfortable with all the conveniences of home. After touring around during the day I was quite happy to come back to Fort Amherst and watch the boats come in and out of the harbour while we prepared dinner. The house is a short drive away from many popular tourist spots, i.e.: Cape Spear and Signal Hill. I would also highly recommend the Zip Line Adventure in Petty Harbour for the more adventurous types. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer."

  • Brier Visit 2017

"This was our 3rd visit to St. John's, and our 2nd time staying at this wonderful property. At the risk of being repetitive, I cannot say how nice it was to be so close to the action of downtown St. John's. We did a little more exploring this time but still always ended up back in our beautiful rental property located right on the edge of the downtown. Just like last time the house was/is fully equipped with everything you need to entertain yourselves and/or guests if that's your intent. We stayed for 10-11 days this time, and made our full breakfasts every morning. Much more relaxed and obviously a little less expensive that going out every morning. Our last trip was in late Sept/early Oct. so some things albeit nice to have, were less important on this trip. The upstairs deck with Bar B Q wasn't used nearly as much this time as it was on previous trip.....but still really nice to have. Due to the 160 kph winds we lost power for one day, as did everyone else around us. Tony was very concerned about our well being, even though his own sister (lives locally) was in more distress than we actually were. Once again, we highly recommend this property. You will be impressed not only by the location, the property itself, but with the caring and kindness shown to his guests by the owner...Tony Redmond. And yes Tony, we're definitely going to see you again. Thank you so much for the hospitality. The Manitoba Crew (2nd visit)"

  • 85 Casey St., St. John's, NFLD - Property #684276

"Beautiful property, extremely well decorated and maintained. Great location with indoor parking and walking distance to downtown St. John's attractions. Owners, Kevin & Erin, were very responsive and pleasant and went the extra mile to provide access to their VRBO home for our daughter who arrived earlier than planned to surprise us. Coffee & snacks were really appreciated upon arrival after a travel day. We give this VRBO 5 Stars and highly recommend it to others traveling to St. John's. Thank you Kevin & Erin for exceeding our expectations!"

  • Best place in SJ's!

"Hipditch House was love at first site. I spent an amazing week in St John's because accommodations were perfect! I am very well-travelled and can truthfully say that not a detail was missed or overlooked in the quality of my comfort, safety and entertainment at the Hipditch House. The location of the house in a neighbourhood called the Battery, which overlooks the harbour and city scape, was what sold me completely because it is literally a 10 min walk to all the best places: Signal Hill, The Battery Cafe, the Hot Yoga studio, the coolest gourmet grocery store, restaurants and pubs, shopping, galleries, breweries you name it. The changing views of the harbour from day to nighttime were equally magical. The owner of the CapeRace Newfoundland Adventures tour company, Ken Sooley, took the time to give me guidance and advice about what to do and where to go with the Hipditch house as my base. It was perfect! I needed an easy smooth week where I could relax and do things at my own pace and enjoy as much as possible and this was it! Many thanks to Ken and his Dream Team for creating such a wonderful space in the best area of St John's for others to enjoy."
