  • What a wonderful place!

"What a wonderful place! Designed to fell simultaneously spacious and intimate. Patio downstairs, large balcony upstairs both facing out to sea. Fabulous sunrise. Nice garden, good choice of books, eclectic art on the walls, well armed with all the appliances you need., good wifi reception, great shower. Lovely neighbourhood, everyone friendly. Beaches can't be beat. Patty and Clyde are terrific. Can't recommend it highly enough. We'd come back in a heartbeat."

  • Serenity..the only word to describe this place.

"While this cottage is secluded, feeling like we were a bit 'off the grid' , we found it so convenient to access all amenities that we required such as local grocery stores and restaurants. We used this cottage as our 'home base' while exploring the South Shore of Nova Scotia. The drives to Chester, Mahone Bay, Peggy's Cove, and Lunenburg were pleasurable as the main road for this cottage is right near the Lighthouse Route so maps were not even required.....you just follow the highway. Roads in the area are very well marked for exploring, as well. The cottage itself is very comfortable and clean and it provides everything that you probably need, including internet service and washer and dryer. The best feature was the main bedroom that consists of 2 walls of windows that overlooks the water. It was so peaceful.....it really was hard to leave everyday to do the area exploring when you could just lie in bed with your coffee and enjoy the views. While we were there, I saw 5 deer and a fox so this provided some entertainment. What was something that we did not think of when booking and learned by experience was that Chester does not have the 'tour buses' running in and out of town all day and to us that was a positive. When we visited other sites, this was sometimes overwhelming, especially in Peggy's Cove. You missed all this tourist action for the most part in Chester. Jane Paul, the owner was incredible. She was at the cottage to great us and was very knowledgeable about the area. She was staying close by and provided us with absolutely anything we needed..usually within minutes. She provided emails prior to our stay detailing directions, recommended restaurants and activities. I can say that anyone who takes a trip to this area MUST go to the Shore Club for the lobster dinner, They closed for the season on October 9th this year so I am not sure when they would re-open again. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to a family (3 bedrooms with closet and dresser drawer space and washer and dryer), or couple. It was indeed an enjoyable stay ....one that we would like to repeat one day."

  • Peace, Tranquility, with Bay of Fundy View

"Our Hosts Linda and Greg are outstanding to your needs. The Periwinkle Cottage is totally equipped, Spotless, Cozy, with the Bay of Fundy at your exploring pleasure. Close to a seafood market, fishing ports, great local seafood restaurant close by, with a Lobster Club Sandwich on the menu that you have to try. Driving up and over North Mountain to the Bay side of the Province you are rewarded with a spectacular water vista view. Annapolis Royal only a short drive away, back down the mountain, you can explore the many shops and older historic buildings, along with Fort Anne and Port Royal National Historic Sites where Acadians, French, and British started early settlements and conflicts. Just bring your food, cameras, and binoculars and recharge your soul."
