  • Great Vacation Spot

"I have been meaning to write this review for some time to let others know about this wonderful vacation spot. My husband and I spent a week here in August, 2016 with two other couples and we found it the perfect base for exploring Cape Breton Island. The setting is very private and peaceful, with spectacular views of the lake. The cottages are beautiful and really comfortable; everything you need and more. The main cottage was a terrific gathering space with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable living room and dining room. It was also ideal for us to be able to spread out among the three cottages for a little privacy at nighttime or whenever. The deck is another great space to enjoy meals and relaxation, although we did have some problems with biting insects. The owners, Katie and Jamie, were great to work with, both during the booking process and while we were on Cape Breton. They were there the same week we were, in a separate cottage down the hill. They were friendly and had helpful suggestions on restaurants, puffin tours, etc., but were never intrusive. The town of Baddeck is a great base for exploring Cape Breton Island, with nice restaurants and shops and easy access to the rest of Cape Breton Island. We can recommend this property without hesitation!"

  • Amazing !

"This was one of our favourite stops on our recent east coast trip. We had a wedding to attend in St Anns which is about a 5 minute drive down the road and we called this place home for 3 nights . Beautiful views, a great walking trail down to the water for the dog and super comfortable beds. Would stay here again in an instant. Thanks!"

  • Beautiful suite with a great view

"My young family stayed at this property for 5 nights. We really enjoyed ourselves. The pictires don't do the place justice (and they are nice pictures). 10 foot ceilings, amazing view and a little kitchen that almost had everything we do at home. We were quite impressed by how well it was stocked. Richard was very friendly and helpful. Another review mentioned hearing footsteps, bugs and smoke, yes you can hear footsteps but you can't smell any smoke and there were hardly any bugs at all when we were there. The door was open for most of the time with no issues. We built a little firepit on the water and had quite a few fires. All of the firewood was provided. My kids had fun in the water and enjoyed hunting for seashells. The tides made some evenings even better when you could hear the waves crashing on the shore from the house. If you have young kids like us with an early bedtimes, you might find yourself on the pull out sofa so you can still enjoy your evening. It's as comfortable as any other pull out but I felt the waves more than made up for it. It was a very nice stay and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you!"

  • Best place we stayed on extensive NS trip

"Wow! What a terrific gem this is! We just got back from a 2 week NS trip staying somewhere different every evening. This was the best place in a long list of great stays we had. The owners could not have been more pleasant and thoughtful. Much attention to detail, thinking of all the little things that make a place special. I highly highly recommend Cape Breton Hideaway. Could I give it 6 stars????"
