  • An Extraordinary property inside and out

"We rented the Eagle's Nest and Eagle's Landing simultaneously for 7 nights. It was extraordinary inside and out. First the location: It's about 1 mile up a combination paved and smooth gravel road with some houses along the road. However, at the rental site itself, no houses are visible, just a long, winding and clean lake with miles of unspoiled forest beyond. The nearest town, Bridgewater, is not a pretty place, but it has a Walmart, supermarkets, fast food and all the necessities. About 35 minutes from the Eagle's Nest is the charming, historic seaside town of Lunenburg--abounding with brightly painted old homes, very good restaurants, shops, etc. Don't miss a tour of the Ironworks Distillery! Convenience and a remote-feeling location-pretty special. And did I mention the view, the view, the view--far lovelier than the website photos can indicate. Take a short walk to their boathouse and take out the kayaks (life jackets are at the boathouse) to get to enjoy the lake close up. We appreciated the solitude! Nice to leave the city behind. The great views of the lake and woods are readily visible from the many windows inside of Eagle's Nest. The rustic exterior of the home belies an interior that is quite sophisticated and spacious-designed by a Swiss architect for himself. White adobe-like walls form rounded surrounds of the windows. And lots of white pine beams makes for a bright, clean look. The bits of tile and red accent pieces were cheerful and chic. One note, the stairs to the upper quarters are backless and might not be compatible for some dogs. Also, follow Marie's directions not your navigation system!!!! Mine took us to a wicked road from which we had to back down. Marie is lovely, by the way, and helpful as can be!"

  • Fantastic Retreat

"Cottage was perfect for our mini moon. Sherry's knowledge of the area was very helpful in guiding us to the best attraction in the area."
