  • Surf; scenery and serenity

"We stayed Dec.30 and 31 and were overwhelmed by the surf and the waves the day we arrived. Brian was a great host showing us the ins and outs of the cottage and even helped us with our luggage. The cottage is of the highest quality inside and out. It is a blend of rustic and modern throughout. The furnishings and decor are first class. We are already talking about the possibility of returning in the Summer to enjoy the beach. The fact the cottage is open year round makes this an ideal getaway for two people at any time of the year. Would highly recommend Steve and Carol (Dartmouth N.S.)"

  • What a wonderful place!

"What a wonderful place! Designed to fell simultaneously spacious and intimate. Patio downstairs, large balcony upstairs both facing out to sea. Fabulous sunrise. Nice garden, good choice of books, eclectic art on the walls, well armed with all the appliances you need., good wifi reception, great shower. Lovely neighbourhood, everyone friendly. Beaches can't be beat. Patty and Clyde are terrific. Can't recommend it highly enough. We'd come back in a heartbeat."

  • Seeking and finding the unique

"We are a middle-aged professional couple who seek the unique when we travel. Our sojourn at Bridge House rates high on our all-time list. This is an architectural jewel in a stunning natural setting, a memorable place where the seals provide the bass line to a coyotes' chorus. We spent our days exploring Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and dozens of picturesque communities, discovering the Western Shore's bakers, butchers, produce markets, coffee roasters -- and taking it back to the modern, well-equipped kitchen to cook up a storm. We entertained old friends we hadn't seen in years and found ourselves recalibrating our pace to the easygoing rural Nova Scotian rhythm around us. Thank you, thank you for providing us this time."

  • Beautiful location, renovated traditional house

"We loved our vacation at The Blue House. From the large picture windows in the open living/dining room, the house has a lovely view on a natural pond and its own shallow sandy beach. A beautiful public sandy beach is a 10 minute walk or 1 minute drive away. The virtue of the shallow beach is that the water temperature is comfortable. Not a given in Nova Scotia! Two restaurants and a surprisingly well stocked country grocery are in Lockport, 20 minutes away, and all of the vacationer's necessities are in the picturesque harbor town of Shelburne, 40 minutes away. The house has the advantage of a downstairs bedroom (2 twins) and a full bathroom. So it is a great choice for families traveling with seniors or others who might be more comfortable not having to climb stairs. The kitchen is well equipped. The internet works. The bathrooms are modern. Neil and Michelle are obliging and gracious hosts, attentive to any guest needs but not at all intrusive. We hope to return to The Blue House."
