  • Fantastic house at the end of the earth

"This was a fantastic place for our family to stay while we visited northern Cape Breton. The view from the back deck was even better than it looks in the pictures, and was great to wake up to every morning. The location, while a bit out of the way (it is, after all, the "end of the earth") was perfect for relaxing at the end of long days hiking through the national park and other nearby trails. Darrell was very helpful was we prepared for our trip, answering all of our questions very quickly (usually within just a few hours). The house itself was clean and as described. However, I would recommend updating the listing with a few more pictures. In this case, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival: it has a very inviting living room, one of the bedrooms is perfect for kids (with bunk beds), and the larger bedroom has the same beautiful view as off the back deck. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay that's off the beaten path."

  • Wonderful Experience

"My friends and I stayed at The Willow for a weekend in May, and we had a wonderful experience. The house itself was lovely and exactly what we expected from the photos, and it provided everything we needed. But beyond that, we were most impressed by Moira's helpfulness and thoughtfulness. I emailed with her on several occasions before and during our trip, and she was always super responsive and willing to provide lots of information, even if it wasn't house-related. Because I was traveling with a large group, I needed to rent two houses, and Moira was able to help me find an ideal second option. That's just one example of how she went above and beyond what I would typically expect from a homeowner. Most of my group had never been to Cape Breton before, so we really valued the advice she proactively offered us as a local. I look forward to staying here again in the future. Thanks, Moira, for everything!"

  • A lovely home from home! Comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and beautiful view.

"Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ideally located in pleasant surroundings for quiet lazy days or to explore the surrounding countryside. Halifax is a lovely city and Peggy's cove is a real treasure."

  • A Treat to "Come Home" To

"Peggy's Cottage is the essence of charm, calm and comfort. I fell in love with the upper bedroom -- its light, the views and the library -- and ended each touring day reading by one its four front windows. Thoughtful attention to detail is evident: the kitchen is well-equipped; brochures/maps to local spots are available; directions to bay access and instructions for recycling are clear; even laundry detergent is provided! The cottage grounds are also charming -- there's a beautiful moss-covered path in the back that takes you by a creek, a favourite spot for my terrier to cool off. (And a good old clothesline, so your wash can dry in the glorious sun I was treated to for several days)! As others before me have said, the hosts are incredibly welcoming and helpful. During the booking process, Peggy was particularly quick to respond to my frequent and numerous questions. The traffic roaring by the front of the cottage was a bit overwhelming at times, but perhaps that was due to the fact that it was a busy time of year (the Digby Wharf Rat motorcycle festival was on). Be careful backing your car out onto the highway. And be cautioned: this is most definitely an unplugged experience! There is no cell reception nor is there a landline. The fact that I was on my own and couldn't make a call made me feel a little unsettled and is why I cannot give this otherwise delightful property 5 stars. But I will be back. I want to experience this beautiful part of the world in fall, winter, and spring."
