  • Great Base for Exploring the Eastern Side of Cape Breton Highlands National Park

"Sure enjoyed our 5-night stay at the spacious and clean “Hilltop Haven” cottage. We were able to do lots of things during our stay. But hiking in the National Park was our priority. We hiked Freshwater Lake Look-off, Middle Head, Mary Ann Falls, half of the Coastal Trail, part of the Mica Hill Trail, and Franey – to the top for a gorgeous panoramic view on a gorgeous sunny day! And Gorgeous were the views from the Cabot Trail and on our drive to Meat Cove. Even the blustery weather provided spectacular scenes of crashing waves at the tip of White Point. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, which would be ideal for families (super spacious for only the 2 of us). The washer and dryer were definitely needed by us as we were on a one month vacation of Nova Scotia. Thanks for being such friendly hosts. We enjoyed our conversations with you. And a special thanks to Greg for the fish, which lasted us for two dinners – absolutely delicious! We highly recommend the “Hilltop Haven” cottage! Be sure to go for ice cream at the Lighthouse!"

  • Two Wonderful Weeks at the Kelly Cottage

"Joe, Than you so much for two wonderful weeks at the cottage! Every aspect exceeded our expectations and has renewed my wife's faith in high end cottage life :).... worth every penny! Clearly a great deal of thought went in to providing every thing one could possibly need. The views are amazing and we saw many forms of wild life from bears to whales to eagles to foxes and more ... We road the sea side road route to Antigonish many times and enjoyed the views/hills and low traffic flow! Its perfect for road bikes (approx 84km return with about 900m eleveation). Met an older lady from Antigonish on the route who rides it every day! The weather was perfect with only one rainy day out of 14. While lobster was out of season in the immediate area we found lots about an hour away and used the steaming pot to have one of many seafood feast's :) ...I could go on and on with the superlatives but am running out of characters ..... Thanks once again and dont change anything as its perfect! Hope to be back in the future ... John/Wendy/Robyn/Danny/Madison and our dog Lola !"

  • An East Coast Treasure!

"In August we (mom and 2 kids - 7 and 9) spent a week at Xanadu by the Sea. It was truly memorable. The cottage is AMAZING and has every amenity you need (including an outdoor shower which was blissful in the morning sun). It's beautifully decorated in East Coast style and super comfortable. From the comfy beds to the big tub and the sprawling couches we really felt pampered (and relaxed!). The views are spectacular and with the big cottage windows and open concept layout you can see for miles from every angle. The cottage is perfectly situated for sunset. Having morning coffee (or sunset cocktails) on the patio or outdoor seating on the edge of the cliffs was breathtaking. Heidi, Paul and Sidney are wonderful hosts and keep an immaculate property. They were so helpful, hospitable and full of East Coast spirit. We especially enjoyed our nights by the bonfire. The beach was fantastic for kayaking, swimming, boogy-boarding and fishing. A highlight was catching Sea Bass right off the rock in-front of the cottage! The rocky coastline made for great hikes and hours of exploring and entertainment. There is lots to discover in the area; great little towns, sandy beaches, lighthouses and more. Travelling around with our awesome tour guide, Sidney, was so much fun. Of special mention would be the 'secret' Rock she took us to that we spent hours jumping off of. I also have to mention Bella. 'Best Dog Ever' as my son still calls her. We loved playing with her, throwing rocks in the water for her, and going for long kikes with her. We had so many favorite/best experiences over the week and are looking forward to returning again next year. I highly recommend this property!"
