  • Ocean Retreat in Blind Bay

"We are 4 seniors in relatively good shape and we were looking for a quiet home on the ocean...we found it here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We also wanted a home relatively close enough to attractions and places to hike and explore...that, too, was found here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We went to the Bay of Fundy to experience the low tides and Lucketts Winery and to Halifax twice to visit the Citadel , tour the city with the Harbour Hopper, and eat at several wonderful restaurants on the Harbour Walk ...Bicycle Thief was a favorite. We loved coming back to Bill's home after our days of adventure. A suggestion for the home would be to have TV cable or satellite as we did miss the AM and evening news as well as being able to watch some shows together in the evenings after our days' adventures. The one disappointment was that we were unable to kayak due to the fog and wind conditions. We never cooked in the house as there are too many restaurants to try in the area toward Peggy's Cove, Indian Harbour, and Halifax. The house is equipped with most all you would need , has an awesome deck with 4 chairs ( a table would be nice), and the water views are beautiful. A special treat was meeting Bill who had fresh flowers, chocolates, and a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival. That made us feel pretty special."

  • Great Base for Exploring the Eastern Side of Cape Breton Highlands National Park

"Sure enjoyed our 5-night stay at the spacious and clean “Hilltop Haven” cottage. We were able to do lots of things during our stay. But hiking in the National Park was our priority. We hiked Freshwater Lake Look-off, Middle Head, Mary Ann Falls, half of the Coastal Trail, part of the Mica Hill Trail, and Franey – to the top for a gorgeous panoramic view on a gorgeous sunny day! And Gorgeous were the views from the Cabot Trail and on our drive to Meat Cove. Even the blustery weather provided spectacular scenes of crashing waves at the tip of White Point. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, which would be ideal for families (super spacious for only the 2 of us). The washer and dryer were definitely needed by us as we were on a one month vacation of Nova Scotia. Thanks for being such friendly hosts. We enjoyed our conversations with you. And a special thanks to Greg for the fish, which lasted us for two dinners – absolutely delicious! We highly recommend the “Hilltop Haven” cottage! Be sure to go for ice cream at the Lighthouse!"

  • Exquisite home, absolute serenity

"We spent 4 glorious nights at Janet's home in Deep Cove. Everything was exactly as described in the pictures and in all the other wonderful reviews on VRBO. The house was tastefully decorated, very clean & well-maintained, and in an ideal location for exploring Chester, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, the Minas Basin & Peggy's Cove. The location was perfect for star-gazing (best display of stars I've ever seen in Canada), perched up above the head of an idyllic cove. The best surprise was the beautiful screened-in porch, where we spent much of our time. I was truly sad to leave yesterday. This was without a doubt the most peaceful, enjoyable vacation that I have ever had, and I will absolutely return."
