  • La Rouge Maison Is Paradise

"Paulette thank you so much for sharing your lovely La Rouge Maison with us. We came to your home tired from the stresses of everyday life and left fully rejuvenated. Your very comfortable home has everything that could possibly be needed, so well stocked and clean as a whistle. The neighbours were friendly and helpful as well as all of the other people we met in our travels on the Acadian coast. It was Baie St. Marie and that splendid coast that captured our hearts. So much to see and do. Our favourite times were spent walking along the salt water Baie St. Marie enjoying the tides and the smells of the ocean. Our Pugs enjoyed the activities too. We really appreciated that our Pug family members were welcome in your home. We'll be back! We want to thank you for your generosity. You answered all of our endless questions prior to our arrival and made sure that we had a reliable local contact while we were there. Your La Rouge Maison is an absolute jewel!"

  • Beautiful cottage, great location wonderful hosts!!!

"We stayed in Xanadu by the Sea for 8 nights in Early November (off season). We chose the Cottage as a place to base ourselves for a week of Nova Scotia sightseeing, but also had to plan on having some bad/cold weather keeping us inside at that time of year. Xanadu by the Sea was perfect for us, having a great location on the water (and sunsets), plenty of places to drive to on our day-trips, and warm and cozy on the days we decided to stay at home and relax by the fire! Paul was fantastic and answered all our questions promptly. We met just outside the airport for a coffee, got the keys and took advantage of his local knowledge to plan some of our excursions. The cottage had everything we needed, including plenty of firewood (thanks Paul), coffee maker, utensils, washing machine, TV, internet, etc... just buy your groceries and enjoy your stay. We prefer to travel to places outside of the tourist season. Most tourist attractions were shut down by November, but there is still a lot to see and do and you can enjoy the beautiful sights with nobody else around. Antigonish has everything you need for dining, many distilleries and breweries are open year round and are happy to give private tours since there are no tour groups, and it's a great time to meet the locals in the small towns when you stop in for some lunch. We didn't get the chance to sit out on the porch as we went sightseeing on the warm days, but I can certainly imagine relaxing out there in the summer, listening to the ocean or music. Xanadu by the Sea is a place I would highly recommend and will certainly come back to for another getaway! Thanks again Paul for a wonder stay!"

  • The interior of the home was welcoming and worked very well for our needs.

"The attic space was enjoyed immensely by two late teens. It was their private retreat. The main floor was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. The laundry space was also appreciated. The outside of the house badly needs to be repainted. The surrounding front porch also needs work. The view from the deck is wonderful but some rungs of the deck are missing and making it unsafe for young children. Some chairs or a suitable table to go with the pub style chairs would also make the deck space more useable and enjoyable. We really enjoyed our time in this home."

  • Ocean Retreat in Blind Bay

"We are 4 seniors in relatively good shape and we were looking for a quiet home on the ocean...we found it here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We also wanted a home relatively close enough to attractions and places to hike and explore...that, too, was found here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We went to the Bay of Fundy to experience the low tides and Lucketts Winery and to Halifax twice to visit the Citadel , tour the city with the Harbour Hopper, and eat at several wonderful restaurants on the Harbour Walk ...Bicycle Thief was a favorite. We loved coming back to Bill's home after our days of adventure. A suggestion for the home would be to have TV cable or satellite as we did miss the AM and evening news as well as being able to watch some shows together in the evenings after our days' adventures. The one disappointment was that we were unable to kayak due to the fog and wind conditions. We never cooked in the house as there are too many restaurants to try in the area toward Peggy's Cove, Indian Harbour, and Halifax. The house is equipped with most all you would need , has an awesome deck with 4 chairs ( a table would be nice), and the water views are beautiful. A special treat was meeting Bill who had fresh flowers, chocolates, and a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival. That made us feel pretty special."
