  • Best of BC

"This is a great place to stay in Smithers in spring. The lake often glasses off to a mirror and reflects the huge mountains above. Twin falls is just across the lake and very pretty. The cabin is made from huge logs, well sealed and heated. Bedrooms are a good size and kitchen is fully equipped like a home."

  • Lyn and Phil and large family

"We had a wonderful 4 night stay in this home. 6 adults and 5 children aged 2-7 years. The house is a beautiful classic large ski home. Very well stocked for guests. Kitchen well equipped and loads of towels. Mud room entrance very convenient as is laundry room in the basement. It is listed as a 5 bedroom but could really be considered 6 as the TV room in the lower level is a room with a door and has two pullout couches that we didn't use. The games room is a separate common area from this private and largish TV room. Our kids used the TV room to play in. The home is nicely furnished with rustic ski decor and durable, very suitable for young kids and dogs. Does not have fenced area for letting dogs out but a great walking trail just a few doors down. Peter was very available with Whistler tips and also responded promptly to have a hot tub problem fixed within 24 hours. Highly recommended."

  • Amenities that rival or exceed hotels.

"If you were looking to stay at a high end spa resort, well you are not going to appreciate the dated interior. But if you are getting flashbacks to the cottages that your family vacationed at long ago, you are going to get nostalgic. Nonetheless, you will find yourself busy enjoying the vast amenities of the property than putting too much of a worry about the lack of chicness in furniture, washrooms or kitchen cabinets. However to be have a balanced review, I would like to point out some things that could need some attention. The towels are plentiful, but most had a feel of a scrub sponge, I guess they have had much use over their lives and have felt the baking of the sun once too often now. And for a possible future renovation, a larger kitchen sink would be plenty helpful. When you have 4 or 5 families' worth of dishes to sort thru, a large farm sink would do the trick. And that's about it. Clear consensus, we had 5 families join in with various numbers of young children and everyone from the parents to children loved the property! The indoor pool and hot tub was stupendous, the outdoor pirate ship and sand area was marvelously entertaining and that custom dining table - no words can describe having the ability to sit down all together as a family for each meal. Less not forget the huge open yard to play baseball or soccer, a driveway to which the kids rode their bikes endlessly around, a fire pit for those must have smores, and we didn't even get around to touching the pool table or turning on the video gaming systems. The two stoves, 3 fridges, ice maker, washer and dryer, two BBQs, bug zappers, industrial size garbage bin and strong WiFi were a godsend for our sizeable group. We definitely did not feel unsettled about any lack of amenities, supplies or beds, plenty of space for the kids to rest or for parents to find a momentary quiet spot. The owner Frank was a wonderful host, giving us the run down when we got there, coming back to fix us out of a jam and answering all of countless questions. He was great to correspond with beforehand and was quick to respond. Yes modern updates would make this property even more glamorous, but it did not detract from the amazing time we spent there. At the end of the stay our 7 year old said it was the best days of his life. And since we do all this for the kids so they can experience and bond together as they grow, if that's the reaction I'm getting, well I think we made a great choice for a cottage."

  • Better than expected

"I will start with the only negative I have, that is, the refund of the damage deposit. I wish that VRBO would notify(by email) once the refund is made. This improvement would make things easier for seniors like me. 'Better than expected' really is heartfelt. It was a joy in communicating with Linda and Scott. Once we got there, the property was neat on the outside, clean on the inside(this was the first property that we did not have to wash dishes etc. before use), all appliances and utensils were first class. Linda and Scott thought of everything including extra toothbrushes in case you forgot yours. The location was ideal in that the property had views of the lake through the evergreens. We will return. Additional to above, we had the pleasure to meet Linda and Scott. A real nice couple that are friendly, easy to talk to and very considerate for their guests' comfort. Thanks Linda and Scott for the pleasure. Catherine and John PS. We were there Oct,13 to 27,2016"
