  • Great Stay

"We had a great time, the cottage is very spacious. New dock and a perfect location close to all restaurants and stores, Nice part of the lake beautiful sunset view etc. The cottage is cozy with lots of room. Just needs some attention to the roof, other than that can't ask for a better place."

  • Spacious and well-tended

"We rented the whole of this spacious cottage for a couple of nights for 6 adults and 4 children aged 2-9 attending a family wedding close by. It was clean, quiet, well-tended, convenient to the lake (some lakefront about 100m away, but about 800 m to a proper beach for swimming), ample parking, a lovely new deck, and some outdoor space for children to play. The furnishings are cottage-appropriate, and there is plenty of seating for eating both inside and outside. There is a small step down from the kitchen to the back door hall, and another up from there to the back suite, which was a little unexpected and caused a couple of stumbles! The upper bunk in the back bedroom does not have a safety bar, so was not suitable for young children - this would be easy to install. The fridge definitely needs upgrading (both of the lower shelves on the door collapsed on us), and the barbecue has a knob missing. It was reasonably well-equipped, although we would have liked some wine glasses, an electric kettle, a plug for the bath, and more large bowls/serving platters. We would have appreciated either a working barbecue lighter or some matches. Apparently renters are also expected to provide their own propane - we had not at all anticipated this, and were told that we were lucky that the previous renters had left some in the tank! The main entry door opened into one of the bedrooms (pull-out queen and two bunks) where children are very likely to be sleeping. It would have been better if the other door that opens into the family/living area had been the main entry, and/or that all entry doors had the same key or lockbox, so that entering through a bedroom could be avoided. It is clear from the instructions and dire warnings that troublesome tenants and damages are anticipated, and I'm sure that this must be for good reason. However, it appears a little user-unfriendly, especially to a family that prides itself on respecting other people's property! Having rented many properties in many countries, we found this one to be expensive, especially for the cleaning, since we were asked to provide all our own toiletries, toilet paper and linens, which obviously avoids any laundry costs for the owner. The posted instructions also asked us to vacuum and clean, but there were no supplies available, so we just did our best. The owner himself was, however, friendly and responsive, and our security deposit was returned immediately."

  • This cottage is well maintained and well set up. The hosts are available when needed.

"There were many things we could have done with the canoe and kayak as well as many board games. Instead we walked in the area and relaxed in the yard and on the Gov't dock nearby. The Cottage at Big Bay Point was a perfect place to kick back and catch up with family in a relaxed setting."

  • Great waterfront property

"This is a great space. Tons of room, everything was very well appointed. Lots of beds so it can sleep many people. Very clean. Owners were great and very responsive to all questions and emails. Would definitely rent from them again if I was in the area."
