  • The unit was perfect

"Our family had a fantastic time at Horseshoe Valley. The condo unit was perfect. We particularly liked two minute walk to the slopes: it was literally "ski on, ski off". The unit was clean and spacious; a perfect deal for the price! The club house was right across from the unit."

  • Quite and peaceful waterfront location with a modern comfortable cottage feel.

"My stay at Cedar Stone was beyond my expectations. The quite and peaceful surrounding environment made it easy to unwind and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. With nature outside your doorstep and priceless sunrises to awake to every morning, it made morning coffee on the front patio a must. As an avid fisherman having the pleasure of being able to take a cast at a moments notice, was made possible with the shores of Lake Simcoe being 300ft from the front door. Also having the Big Cedar Golf Club in the back yard was a bonus. The clubhouse entrance is 800m down the road and offer a more then affordable green fee, making it easier on the pocket book to take in a few rounds during your stay. The accommodations where beyond perfect. All appliances and amenities were of high quality and made cooking, cleaning and relaxing a breeze. Certainly your home away from home type feel. I will most definitely be booking again in the near future and highly recommend booking with Cedar Stone Cottage."

  • Spacious and well-tended

"We rented the whole of this spacious cottage for a couple of nights for 6 adults and 4 children aged 2-9 attending a family wedding close by. It was clean, quiet, well-tended, convenient to the lake (some lakefront about 100m away, but about 800 m to a proper beach for swimming), ample parking, a lovely new deck, and some outdoor space for children to play. The furnishings are cottage-appropriate, and there is plenty of seating for eating both inside and outside. There is a small step down from the kitchen to the back door hall, and another up from there to the back suite, which was a little unexpected and caused a couple of stumbles! The upper bunk in the back bedroom does not have a safety bar, so was not suitable for young children - this would be easy to install. The fridge definitely needs upgrading (both of the lower shelves on the door collapsed on us), and the barbecue has a knob missing. It was reasonably well-equipped, although we would have liked some wine glasses, an electric kettle, a plug for the bath, and more large bowls/serving platters. We would have appreciated either a working barbecue lighter or some matches. Apparently renters are also expected to provide their own propane - we had not at all anticipated this, and were told that we were lucky that the previous renters had left some in the tank! The main entry door opened into one of the bedrooms (pull-out queen and two bunks) where children are very likely to be sleeping. It would have been better if the other door that opens into the family/living area had been the main entry, and/or that all entry doors had the same key or lockbox, so that entering through a bedroom could be avoided. It is clear from the instructions and dire warnings that troublesome tenants and damages are anticipated, and I'm sure that this must be for good reason. However, it appears a little user-unfriendly, especially to a family that prides itself on respecting other people's property! Having rented many properties in many countries, we found this one to be expensive, especially for the cleaning, since we were asked to provide all our own toiletries, toilet paper and linens, which obviously avoids any laundry costs for the owner. The posted instructions also asked us to vacuum and clean, but there were no supplies available, so we just did our best. The owner himself was, however, friendly and responsive, and our security deposit was returned immediately."
