  • Total relaxation!

"What a special getaway and beautiful area! Treasure Island is a quiet, private, residential place perfectly located close to Kingston and Gananonoque. The home is charming with picturesque views from every room. We spent our mornings drinking coffee by the water's edge or from the deck watching the fish jump. Our evenings were lake side roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and drinking wine. The kids loved the rocky beach and jetty to climb, fish and explore. We all enjoyed the hot tub! We did lots of canoeing and rowing around the island when the water was calm. On the east side of the island as well as right off the jetty, we caught lots of fish including large mouth bass, northern pike and perch. My son even caught a 32 inch pike!!! As far as excursions, we enjoyed downtown Kingston, the farmers market in the town center, Fort Henry, Gananonoque and a 5 hour boat tour to Boldt Castle. Oh and Grassy Creek park is great for kids to swim and play in the play ground. Everyone we met in Canada was so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we have food allergies and therefore cooked all our meals so I cannot comment on the restaurants, but there were quite a few that looked amazing in Kingston! There's a great butcher nearby on 15. We weren't fond of the local grocery stores, we are used to whole foods, but we did enjoy Tara's Natural Foods in Kingston which is small and of course the farmers market. If you're looking for an equivalent to whole foods then go a little further to Farm Boy's. Overall this home has everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. Treasure Island was loved by my whole family. Thank you Ellen and Ray Peters!!"

  • Exactly as advertised and more

"We arrived for the weekend and did not want to leave. Every inch of the cottage was immaculate and the decorating touches throughout are refreshing. The beds and comforters were good quality and the additional blankets and pillows were appreciated, since the nights were chilly. All instructions are detailed, from directions to the cottage to buttons on the oven; leaving you feel completely equipped for a fun filled worry-free getaway. The lack of cellular service surprised us - we found a cell phone booster in the book case, sent some messages and everyone disconnected for the rest of our stay. Our daughters experienced a bit of withdrawal (especially when you want to Google something!) but we quickly adapted since disconnecting is the main part of the cottage experience. Julie met us early in our stay and was as pleasant in person as she seemed over email. She answered all my questions (and there were many) before booking and after, within 24 hours ; most of the time, within an hour. What I will remember most about this destination is the quality of care put into making our experience the first of many. Nothing was left out of place, mismatched, broken or dirty. All the furniture is good quality and in good repair and we enjoyed playing the piano. Till next time!"
