  • Wonderful vacation home for large family!

"We had an amazing time at Riverlee! Christine and Randy were so lovely to accommodate our large, multi-generational family. We've always vacationed at lakes but this was our first time on the St Lawrence river. I was a bit nervous about the water quality and river current having small children (4 yr and 18 mos) but I could not have been more wrong. The water quality was excellent and bc it's in an inlet off of the main part of the St.Lawrence, it was perfect swimming for the kids. A slight current and the perfect depth to make full days spent in the water possible. The older kids (9 - 13 yrs old) spent their whole days kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, canoeing and, of course, swimming. When they weren't doing water sports, they were playing Frisbee, on the two play structures, or climbing the rope challenge/swing. One thing I would advise is that ppl bring water shoes for everyone and life jackets for very small kids (they had plenty of PFDs for the older kids and adults but my 18 mos old and 4 yo needed their own life jackets). There are rocks, water plants and some mussel shells so water shoes just gave a little more mobility. In the evenings, we played large family games of volleyball, Capture the Flag (property is HUGE) and we set up an outdoor movie viewing with our own projector. Of course, we had a campfire every night. We preferred the fire pit closer to the house but there is a pit by the water, too. Unfortunately the hot tub didn't work this time and the fridge in the porch wasn't quite cold enough for drinks - but the freezer DID work so we just used our own coolers and bought ice (however, keep in mind we were a large group so others might not even need the second fridge) but we were not bothered. Next time we come, we will request AC because we were there a particularly hot week (30°+ all week) so the upstairs was quite hot for sleeping - however, each room did have a plug-in fan so those helped. Overall, we had an absolute blast and will def be back next year! !!! Thank you Christine and Randy!"

  • Fantastic week on a quiet, restful lake

"We just spent a lovely, restorative week at this beautiful cottage. The pictures really do reflect the beautiful views this cottage affords, from every room of the cottage and the deck. Because our week was so hot, we spent almost all our time on the deck under the umbrella or in the water. So nice to go into the sandy beach/bottom lake - no weeds, no squishy mud! We found the lake to be very quiet with quiet neighbours and not a lot of boat traffic even on a busy long weekend. The cottage itself was very well stocked, making it easy to prepare meals, clean/tidy up etc. We loved having the fire pit and cooked some meals over wood fire on a grill we brought for the purpose (sooo good!). Easy trip into Pembroke or Killaloe for supplies and distractions. Nancy has put together an excellent binder with wealth of ideas for things to do in the area. We would love to spend another vacation here - it has everything we want! Thank you for sharing this lovely place."

  • Beautiful view, peace and quiet.

"We booked the property for 3 nights. 4 adults 2 kids. Nona was in touch via email and answered all my questions before I got here. The view of the lake is breathtaking. Although please note there is no access to the water from the property. There is also a steep cliff at the end of the backyard so keep an eye on your kids! But the view and coziness of the cottage make up for that! Nice kitchen, dishes, well equipped. Close to town, grocery store close by, the Marina/beach all 5 minutes away if you drive, 10 if you bike. Sauble beach is 35 minutes away. Tobermory is about 40 minutes. Excellent location to make daytrips to many locales. The Bruce trail is right outside and makes for a good family hike to Lionshead lookout. The firepit offers a nice place to sit back and watch the starry night, the kids had a blast roasting marshmallows and spotting shooting stars. Inside 3 bedrooms 1 and a half baths were more than enough for us. The master bedroom offers an absolutely beautiful view of the lake, awesome to wake up to. Again, I must point out though that there are no curtains or blinds in the master bedroom, not even a door. This may bother some people, but we were OK. Thankfully, the other bedrooms had doors, so we still had some privacy! Overall an excellent choice if you want to seriously unwind yourself from the daily grind. I have rented in Tobermory before and this is much more quiet and scenic to me. Nona has done a fine job maintaining this place and I would give it an A+!"
