  • Family & Friends Vacation - Great Cottage

"We booked Tom's place for a week for an end of summer getaway to split with friends. We have 2 kids, 1.5 and 4 years old. Our friends have 2 kids as well in the same age range. The location was perfect, a 10 minute walk from the beach on a quiet street, very safe for little ones. We brought a wagon and stroller, which worked well for transporting gear and kids to the beach. There is also a drop-off/parking area right at the nearest beach access, if you wanted to drive stuff down. Town (groceries, LCBO, drug store) was a 5 minute drive away, very quick. There's also ample parking in town, so it wasn't an issue to drive and just park down there to hit the main strip. Great space, well equipped kitchen, working BBQ, big TV with tons of channels and DVD player. Wifi quality is a bit poor, so don't plan on streaming much Netflix (I imagine it's just the area). Very clean and well maintained cottage. The deck is a bit rough, but even the littles were okay on it without shoes, although we usually put them on, just in case. No AC, but the place actually stayed pretty cool at night between windows and fans, it wasn't an issue. Washing machine and dryer work well, but take Tom's word on the light colours and iron in the water. The water in general is a bit smelly, but again, I imagine it's the area. And there is a water cooler. The backyard is not fenced, but it's a good space with a great fire pit. It isn't level (big hill/mound in the middle) and backs onto the wooded area. Dealing with Tom was a breeze from start to finish, quick to respond and friendly. This place was a great fit for us, great booking for 2 families and we'd book it again for sure."

  • Close to beach, close to town but still quiet with room for 5-6

"We had a very nice trip to Sauble Beach. The owner was very easy to work with, helpful in answering questions, and refunded our deposit quickly. The cottage has been partially remodeled and suited our needs as we explored the Bruce Peninsula. The kitchen is maybe the best well-stocked kitchen in our 7 VRBO rentals across the US & Canada, the wifi had good speed, and the wagon to haul stuff to the beach was most appreciated. The only issue with the cottage itself was the screen missing in the back door so we couldn't leave it open at night due to bugs coming in. This prevents getting a cross breeze, which could be an issue in hotter months since this home doesn't have AC. The walk to the beach is simple and easy for just nearly anyone. However, the trail from the home to the beach does come out onto the First Nations portion of the beach. This isn't bad per se, but we were stopped twice during our stay by a patrol vehicle stating we needed to pay a walk-on fee. Once we explained where we were renting a home they let us come on without paying, but did suggest the homeowner get a pass for guests. Also, this is a drive-on beach and you'll need to get on the other side of the berm to be out of the way of traffic. The home is close to town but far enough that it's not noisy and we walked pretty much everywhere we went. The cottage shares a lot with another cottage and there isn't much privacy between the two, which could be good or bad depending upon who your neighbors are, but we got lucky with a nice family. Our children played together some. We couldn't find the Netflix password posted anywhere, but we didn't try to turn on the TV either as we were busy doing other things. Parking was a bit tight for us (full size pickup and an SUV crossover) without hanging out in the street a little, but mostly you should have room for 2 cars. Overall, we would recommend a stay here."

  • Amazing Vacation Rental for Families!!

"We had two families get together here for a Christmas snow vacation together (4 adults and 3 small kids) and had an incredible experience. We have stayed in quite a few vacation rentals and were thrilled to have such a well-stocked kitchen, so much space (it could easily have accommodated another couple) and all the thoughtful child-friendly elements. They had playpen, high chairs and stools available that really saved us hauling all that along. This was a great property for young kids because it wasn't lakefront and you could just run around in the giant yard. The snow was a blast and there's a perfect short/small hill for little kids to learn to sled. I think it would be great in summer too, since you drive just under 10 minutes to reach the beach and the two little towns are cute and would be fun to explore. It's also not that far from Owen Sound which looked like a fun area to explore as well. This house itself was gorgeous and we loved the decor. It felt very peaceful and relaxing. For the super noise-sensitive and light-sensitive folks, I would recommend bringing a sound machine/fan and either dark curtains or eye-mask. The house does creak and isn't super sound proof (at least no match for screaming toddlers :) but they have tons of clothespin and we could easily make the rooms darker. The owners were really responsive to all our questions before arrival and really accommodating of our needs regarding the kids. We all would highly recommend this place and would love to go back and experience it in summer as well."

  • Modern Cottage

"The room was beautifully decorated with a modern cottage feel and the owner was very friendly. The space was clean and comfortable and the location can't be beat with only a minute's walk to the water. I definitely recommend it!"
