  • Fantastic Place

"3 Families, 12 in total, several teenagers. The cottage is warm, inviting spacious and clean. Has all the amenities. Nice deck for breakfast and dinner. The water is excellent, great swimming, fishing and tubing. Its a short hike to the waterfront but not bad. Bring a fold-up gazebo - there is a large open area at the dock and you will want shade if sitting around chatting. There are about 4 other docks in close proximity but we rarely saw any neighbours. This is a real beauty, well worth it. Thank you"

  • Total relaxation!

"What a special getaway and beautiful area! Treasure Island is a quiet, private, residential place perfectly located close to Kingston and Gananonoque. The home is charming with picturesque views from every room. We spent our mornings drinking coffee by the water's edge or from the deck watching the fish jump. Our evenings were lake side roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and drinking wine. The kids loved the rocky beach and jetty to climb, fish and explore. We all enjoyed the hot tub! We did lots of canoeing and rowing around the island when the water was calm. On the east side of the island as well as right off the jetty, we caught lots of fish including large mouth bass, northern pike and perch. My son even caught a 32 inch pike!!! As far as excursions, we enjoyed downtown Kingston, the farmers market in the town center, Fort Henry, Gananonoque and a 5 hour boat tour to Boldt Castle. Oh and Grassy Creek park is great for kids to swim and play in the play ground. Everyone we met in Canada was so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we have food allergies and therefore cooked all our meals so I cannot comment on the restaurants, but there were quite a few that looked amazing in Kingston! There's a great butcher nearby on 15. We weren't fond of the local grocery stores, we are used to whole foods, but we did enjoy Tara's Natural Foods in Kingston which is small and of course the farmers market. If you're looking for an equivalent to whole foods then go a little further to Farm Boy's. Overall this home has everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. Treasure Island was loved by my whole family. Thank you Ellen and Ray Peters!!"

  • Amenities that rival or exceed hotels.

"If you were looking to stay at a high end spa resort, well you are not going to appreciate the dated interior. But if you are getting flashbacks to the cottages that your family vacationed at long ago, you are going to get nostalgic. Nonetheless, you will find yourself busy enjoying the vast amenities of the property than putting too much of a worry about the lack of chicness in furniture, washrooms or kitchen cabinets. However to be have a balanced review, I would like to point out some things that could need some attention. The towels are plentiful, but most had a feel of a scrub sponge, I guess they have had much use over their lives and have felt the baking of the sun once too often now. And for a possible future renovation, a larger kitchen sink would be plenty helpful. When you have 4 or 5 families' worth of dishes to sort thru, a large farm sink would do the trick. And that's about it. Clear consensus, we had 5 families join in with various numbers of young children and everyone from the parents to children loved the property! The indoor pool and hot tub was stupendous, the outdoor pirate ship and sand area was marvelously entertaining and that custom dining table - no words can describe having the ability to sit down all together as a family for each meal. Less not forget the huge open yard to play baseball or soccer, a driveway to which the kids rode their bikes endlessly around, a fire pit for those must have smores, and we didn't even get around to touching the pool table or turning on the video gaming systems. The two stoves, 3 fridges, ice maker, washer and dryer, two BBQs, bug zappers, industrial size garbage bin and strong WiFi were a godsend for our sizeable group. We definitely did not feel unsettled about any lack of amenities, supplies or beds, plenty of space for the kids to rest or for parents to find a momentary quiet spot. The owner Frank was a wonderful host, giving us the run down when we got there, coming back to fix us out of a jam and answering all of countless questions. He was great to correspond with beforehand and was quick to respond. Yes modern updates would make this property even more glamorous, but it did not detract from the amazing time we spent there. At the end of the stay our 7 year old said it was the best days of his life. And since we do all this for the kids so they can experience and bond together as they grow, if that's the reaction I'm getting, well I think we made a great choice for a cottage."
