It really is as lovely as it looks in the pictures

5 of 5
This is a really lovely house in a great location. We could have spent the whole week just sitting around the house reading from the huge library of books, enjoying the elegant decor and the tranquility. We made the obligatory trip to Green Gables while we were on Prince Edward Island, but felt that we got a much better flavour of the LM Montgomery stories from Cold Comfort Farm. The house had everything we needed, including a very well-equipped kitchen, a drawer full of old towels for taking to the beach, and even advice on how to get the very tame garden birds to eat out of your hand. The owner was also very helpful in passing on information, e.g. about a local bridge being down.

Beautiful chalet in a beautiful location

5 of 5
This gorgeous chalet was absolutely perfect for my family of 5 (2 adults + a 7, 5, and 18 month old). The chalet is right on the river which was perfect for our 5 & 7 year old to go down to all on their own to find shells and watch the birds & boats. We were 5 minutes from the town of Alberton which had everything we needed (grocery store, liquor store, gas station) including a delicious bakery and cafe. Inside the chalet itself was every appliance and gadget we could ever hope for and lovely, comfortable furniture. We were about 15 minutes from the Mill River Fun park which was awesome for my kids age group. This might even be closer once the bridge beside the cottage is up and running again. We had to go a round about way I think. We went for a few hour drive and visited West Point lighthouse and beach, Campbellton Cove beach and Skinners Pond, all on a hunt for sea glass, which we found. All of the neighbours were very friendly. We had an all around, fabulous family vacation at the Mill River Chalet. One thing I would mention is that if you're bringing a small child that you would be concerned about on stairs just bring a pressure mounted baby gate. It will fit between the banister and the wall. The stairs are fairly steep and very enticing to a toddling adventurer.
