  • Well-equipped, spacious rooms, quiet, comfortable, relaxing, nice view.

"We stayed for a week in August 2016. The cottage is very clean, with spacious rooms, 9-foot ceiling, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, wonderful view, great BBQ. Very quiet and relaxing cottage. The two bathrooms each have two locking doors, so they could be used as private ensuite bathrooms for the bedrooms if desired. Nice art on the walls, high-quality building construction, lovely screened porch where we often enjoyed a quiet cup of tea or coffee in the early morning. It has satellite TV but we only watched the Olympics on CBC so I don't know how many other channels are available. Lots of movies on DVD in the utility closet...probably 30 to 50. We had several iPads and smartphones, and the internet worked without any problems. Good cell phone coverage (we had Bell, Telus, Koodo and Rogers phones), plus there is a landline in the cottage. Having a dishwasher and clothes washer & dryer was a nice extra for a cottage. No air conditioning, but it was not needed when we were there and would very rarely be needed on PEI. I used the canoe several times. The lake is sheltered and calm most of the time, even on days when the ocean was choppy. We saw lots of birds in the area. I saw three eagles while canoeing on the lake. I was told by a local relative that the lake is great for trout fishing. It is only about a 5-minute drive to Lakeside beach by car. We walked a couple of times and it is about a 40-minute walk to the beach on a very-light-traffic secondary road. I also biked to the beach and while I didn't time it I would guess it took about 12 to 15 minutes. Lakeside beach is fabulous, and not crowded. Other reviewers have mentioned the many activities and amenities in the local area so I won't repeat them in my review. Owner was easy to contact by email, phone and text, and he was quick to respond. We did not have any problems with any aspect of the rental."

  • This is a beautiful, serene place. Stunning views of the Gulf, incredible red beach, lots of herons.

"The cottage is immaculate, nicely yet simply renovated with many comfortable and thoughtful touches. It is a truly serene, private spot with a view of the herons in the inlet right off the deck and a glorious beach all along Howe Bay for hiking, exploring and kayaking a stroll away from the end of the driveway. If you like tranquility and privacy off the beaten path, this is a wonderful place to spend some time rejuvenating with the world of exploring 20 minutes to an hour in any direction."

  • Top quality

"We were lucky enough to stay in this beautiful home for two weeks in June 2016. The owners have put only top quality items in this rental : from the furniture, the sheets, the towels, the kitchen appliances (the 6-burner gas stove is a dream come true for anyone who loves to cook !), everything but mostly the owners are top quality ! Going to sleep while hearing the waves crashing, waking up to the sound of the birds. Memories that will last a lifetime. The house was spotless and we would recommend this rental to everyone who wants to be near Souris."
