  • Beautiful apartment in the heart of Montreal's Gay Village

"This space was nicely maintained with high ceilings and lots of windows and natural light. It is located right in the heart of the village and one side faces Saint Catherine Street so it can get a little noisy on weekend nights. (Also, we had the misfortune of staying there when emergency repairs were being done by a city crew to one of the manhole covers in the street.) This apartment is managed by a British owned group called "Sonder Reservations." They were very easy to work with and seem to do a very good job managing their properties. Overall we had a lovely stay in Montreal at this apartment and would be happy to stay there again."

  • Perfect for us

"When we booked this trip, we were looking for a place close to Old Montreal and downtown, and close to a Metro stop. We picked this apartment, and were very happy with it. The location is really nice if you are planning on wandering around Montreal. It's very close to Notre Dame. The Metro stop is in the convention center right across the street. The apartment is reasonably furnished, although the bedside tables were about to fall apart. We had two small problems on arrival (a burned out light over the dining table and a lack of laundry soap) which were taken care of promptly. I don't really mind small things like that as long as it gets taken care of, and it was. You will not have a view to speak of from this apartment. That didn't matter to me. I do think the kitchen could have been a little better equipped, but for the length of time we were there that was not a big deal. The building is quiet! Last, the owner was extremely responsive and easy to deal with. That counts for a lot."

  • Nice place for a crowd, some maintenance issues

"Booked this apartment for a family trip, five couples and some young children. We were really pleased to find a place with enough bedrooms for all of us without anyone having to lose a coin toss and take the one with the twin beds. The good: * Six private, well-lit bedrooms with queen beds (comfortable mattresses, too), all with closets and most with dressers. * Two bathrooms and an in-unit washer and drier. * Attractive, minimalist decor. Looks modern and grown-up but also nice for kids as there isn't a lot of stuff for them to grab and break. * Full kitchen with dishes, flatware, fridge, dishwasher and minimal but functional set of cookware. I wouldn't recommend planning an elaborate meal, but if you want to fry some eggs and bake a sheet cake from a box you are covered. * Awesome neighborhood. Low-traffic streets, plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Highlights include the little grocery right across the street, cat cafe around the corner and playground for the kids 2 blocks away. * Front door unlocked with a numerical code so no need to pass around keys. The bad: * The biggest issue we had was definitely some shockingly shoddy maintenance. Something like 7 of 8 chairs were entirely missing one or more bolts holding the seat to the legs. We needed places to sit, so we went to a hardware store to get parts to fix them. A shelf in the living room fell down, looked like it had just been screwed into the drywall without proper anchors. I emailed the flatbook contact who said they would contact their maintenance team and follow up with us but never did. One bedroom had a completely unsupported mattress that would drop you through the frame to the floor if you sat on it, we had to pull the mattress onto the floor. How did anyone think this was acceptable? The slightly annoying: * There are plenty of rooms, but the rooms themselves are pretty small. The living area was big enough to fit us but not really with room to spare. * Walls/ceilings are pretty thin and let noise through. Light sleepers won't appreciate it, and neither does the neighbor downstairs. He was a nice guy... if you stay here please be mindful that you are on vacation but he is not, and his bedroom is right under the living room. * Entire apartment contained exactly one small trash can, in the downstairs bathroom. None in the kitchen, other bathroom or any bedroom. Weird. Overall I'd recommend, just think the place is a bit of TLC from being really great."
