  • Gorgeous beach, large pool, great place

"Very nice place with a large enjoyable two-section pool and great view of a gorgeous beach right from your room or deck. The town is about a ten minute walk up the beach, so if you're looking to be in the middle of things this is not it. But if you want to be away from the hubbub or just don't mind walking or driving when you'd like to go to a bar or do watersports, it's perfect. Swimming conditions were great. The beach has quite a bit of seaweed on it at this location since it's not raked by the beachfront bars up the beach. If you walk a couple of minutes up the beach you can get to a part that's taken care of. Kitchen is nice but lacks any real counter space or cutting board. We somehow were not provided with toilet paper, but we just picked some up when getting groceries. Other convenient amenities like beach chairs, towels and an umbrella were provided. There are tennis courts, but it seemed like bringing your own racket and balls might be required. In any case it was way too hot for that until it was dark, though morning play might be a fun possibility. You'll need to do a bit of hilly walking to get from the parking areas to the rental. This didn't bother us. Overall this location was a tremendous value and highly enjoyable."

  • Very easy and family-friendly

"We had a delightful week at this home, with me and my husband, our 7 and 2 year-old boys, and my father in law. There's been a lot of great stuff written about this property, which is what led us to book it. In particular, the hospitality and helpfulness of the owner can't be over-stated, Loida was amazing with every single little detail to ensure we had a great stay. But I'll focus on the aspects that made this a great fit for our kids: - Playground right out the front door, and other kids around - Fenced property, you can't even get out without a key. This meant we could let our kids have some freedom to play outside - Garden area out the back door to run around - Swimming pool a 3 min walk away - Calm, safe beach just across the street (but with a fence, so no worry of accidents) with shade - Very friendly neighbors with kids - Spotlessly clean - Pack and plays, and beach toys provided The only thing that was a slight challenge for us was the location - if you want to spend time on the east coast (cruise from Fajardo, etc.), you're looking at a 60-90 minute drive, which we just weren't up for. But the children's museum in Carolina was amazing, and also loved taking the ferry to Old San Juan. And there were days we were perfectly happy just hanging out at the pool and beach. Overall, great value, perfect fit for us with kids. We also really liked that we seemed to be the only tourists, and everyone around us spoke primarily Spanish (easy to communicate though). That was the experience we wanted. :-) You're welcome to contact me with questions."

  • Fajardo/Pena Mar Trip

"We booked our trip through VRBO to stay at Pena Mar one year in advance of our trip. I had never done this before and could only rely on pictures, reviews and descriptions to make our decision as to where to stay. Needless to say, I was so nervous to put one into something that could turn out to be a bust. We could not have been MORE HAPPY about our stay at Pena Mar. The location is perfect for all the excursions we did like; snorkeling, Bio Bay, El Yunque Rainforest, a day trip to Old San Juan, etc. Fajardo is a perfect balance of tourism and quiet. Pena Mar offered a perfect location to enjoy all these things, but also come back to a quiet evening by the pool or a quick drive to some really cool local restaurants. Thank you, Alex (and Anthony) for a perfect family trip to Puerto Rico. We WILL BE BACK!"

  • July Visit to Grand Cayman

"We really enjoyed our stay in this very nice condo on 7-mile beach. The owners were very responsive to our questions, and the property manager, Paula, was very helpful during our stay. We loved the heated pool, and we were just steps from the beach. Our two kids, ages 9 and 11, enjoyed having their own room complete with bunk beds. Harbour Heights is close to restaurants (we enjoyed Calico Jacks - just up the beach) and scuba diving with the dive shop across the street, Cayman Turtle Divers (ask for Alan). We'll be back! Try out the buses to get around. They go everywhere on 7-mile beach and cost $2.50 / person (one-way)."
