  • Paradise in Paradise

"If you are looking for a paradise within paradise, this is the place for you!! When you arrive you may think, OH My what have we done. Step into Joanne's personally created, beautiful lush garden home and you will be reassured you chose the absolute BEST vacation spot. We stayed at Bamboo Cottage which was beautifully decorated with so many personal touches. Upon arrival there was cracker/cheese/fruit platter chilled in the fridge waiting for us. Joanne made homemade hummus which was out of this world!! Joanne is a WONDERFUL and gracious host and was always willing to assist in any way possible. We enjoyed seeing and speaking with Joanne whenever we chose. She was a wealth of knowledge helping us find our way around the island and recommending great dining choices. Our favorites were OJ'S and Papa's. You also have to go to Shirley Heights on Sunday for the BBQ and island music. We will DEFINITELY be going back and bringing friends with us. Thank you so much, Joanne for the BEST vacation!"

  • A fabulous property in Antigua, Amanda Neal terrific Host/Owner

"My wife and two boys 12 and 15 stayed at Villa Azura for a week in the off season, (June 2016). This property is positioned north on a peninsula tip facing Long Bay. This is the windward side of the island and there is a constant breeze from the East. This differs greatly from the leeward side of the island which we dont like. The wind and the constant crashing of the waves is comfortable and soothing. The view is unobstructed ocean with waves. The home is fabulous. Adobe design, simple, and well laid out. It is well maintained and we had no maintenance troubles. There is a gardener/handyman to help with any problem if it were to arise and when there was a storm with a power outage, he phoned to make sure the generator had started properly. It had and I didn't even know the power had gone out! Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom with a really cool private outdoor garden shower. Each bedroom has perfect ocean views. We spent most of our time on the deck surrounding the pool. There is a covered patio portion with seating and a usual uncovered pool deck with loungers. The dining area is outdoors in the covered patio portion facing a manicured and landscaped garden that is beautiful. The house is not airconditioned but the beds are. My pet peeve in the caribbean is cool dry sleeping after a long hot wet and sticky day. I was unfamiliar with these beds prior to our trip but they work great. They allow you to have a cool air conditioned breeze on you while having all the doors and windows open to the sounds. The breeze through the open house during the day kept it unusually cool and comfortable, no need for anything else. The housekeeper Mitzie came daily to tidy up, make the beds and washed and folded our daily laundry. She was terrific. One highlight our luxurious living at Azura was having Norma take care of our food needs. She works at a local Private Club (mill reef club) usually but was able to take care of us as well in the off season. She provisioned the house prior to our arrival. She came around 7:30AM, cooked breakfast, cleaned up, discussed dinner plans and menu choices then returned at 6:30PM to cook, serve and clean up. Fare was usual caribbean, seafood, chicken, and local. My wife's menu was vegetarian and perfect for her. Activities: Indigo Divers, Cool Cat for private day sail, snorkel and lunch, Antigua rainforest zip line. Car rental a must: TiTi in english harbor has good vehicles. Overall spectacular stay"

  • A Little Slice of Heaven!

"We recently returned from a ten-day stay at Sugar Shack and cannot say enough in praise of this lovely cottage and its owners, Ilse and Bill. To begin, the cottage is located on an immaculate, beautifully landscaped and maintained property only a short walk from Dickenson Bay. In addition to the lovely beach there, one is also pleased to find three very good restaurants: Putters, Ana's and Coconut Grove...very different from one another, but all good. Another local restaurant, truly a hidden gem, Stella Ristorante is nearby, has great sunsets and fabulous food, not to mention delightful owners! (Thank you, Ilse, for that great recommendation!) Sugar Shack itself is cheerful, cozy, well-appointed and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well-equipped and much more than just functional, a real bonus when you return after a day of sightseeing or just "beaching it" and simply want to unwind with a relaxing meal at home. A perfect venue for dining and just putting your feet up, the beautiful tropical deck with its comfortable furnishings and spa is a real delight. In short, Sugar Shack provides a most tranquil vacation atmosphere, and it is in a great location. Finally and simply put, the charm, helpfulness and overall hospitality of Ilse and Bill is absolutely superlative...One could not ask for more!"

  • Overwhelming!

"Our family visit to Antigua started with a great driver JR who had plenty of space for 8 of us and our bags. When he pulled up in front of Villa Sull Oceano, we were pleased to see our 2 - 4 seater golf carts in the driveway that we had ordered in advance. We were already impressed when we entered the penninsula this home is situated on, with a number of very pleasant check-point people along the way. Where JR parked for us to exit the van, the first glance through the rod iron gates almost took your breath away!! We could see right through the entrance all the way through the center living area through to the ocean that would become our private beach for the next week. Tamara was there to greet us and welcome us as well as acquaint us with this unbelievable home. We were toured through the bedrooms each beautifully appointed complete with individual ensuites. Each of our 4 couples staked claim to the suite they thought would best suit them. The last bedroom on the tour was the master bedroom that is beach front and pool side with two sets of sliding doors to either exposure with a patio overlooking the sea. The master ensuite has double sinks and double rain-head showers, a large bath, even a bidet in the reading room. Each bedroom had individual Air Conditioning units and fans as well as flat-screens even though watching anything on TV was the furthest from any of our minds. The kitchen is massive with dual pull out fridge drawers, a wine fridge, and another beer/drink/water fridge across from it as well as a large SS regular type fridge with water and ice features. 3 sinks including the long trough style bar sink, and dual dishwashers too. All beautifully appointed with granite and ceramic, and cupboards and drawers a'plenty, it was a lot of fun cooking and working in this kitchen, and Chef Wakefield who cooked for us one night had everything conceivable to work with. The large dining table outside was great in accommodating our entire family, and the other tables and bar area served well to keep us all very comfortable as we enjoyed the pool and the good number of chaise lounges. The beach, although public might as well have been our own private beach, visited by only a rare walker or jogger on the way by. Noreen was a remarkable housekeeper!! We will be back for sure to Jolly Harbour and if our group remains the same size, we will definitely come back to Villa Sull Oceano. Memorable, unforgettable, and highly recommended."
