  • Excellent view and location was great.

"Location was perfect. Ocean breezes in the living room and one of the bedrooms were great with a view of the ocean. You could walk to wonderful restaurants to eat out or you could stay in and cook a meal in the apartment kitchen. I loved the ability to go anywhere in Old San Juan to sightsee or visit historical places and museums. Apartment was well maintained and very clean. Kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms were up to date. Only misfortune (and not the norm) was our electricity went out two nights in a row due to a city generator on the blink. So it got a little warm in the bedrooms. I will recommend it to friends and family. We stayed 3 nights."

  • Perfect for a quiet, restful getaway - so glad we found it!

"This property is exactly as advertised: a charmingly furnished, well-equipped condo right on the beach, in a quiet, peaceful setting. It has practically everything you could want, including books, games, a cellphone, a 5-gallon jug of water, ceiling fans in every room AND the porch, and a TV with plenty of channels. Tammey sent us multiple e-mails with all kinds of information on what to see and do. It was incredibly quiet during our stay--at most we heard a few voices at the pool and just a bit of music from the Tuesday night barbecue next door. That barbecue is at Kaibo, a really good beach restaurant serving lunch, dinner, and a few light breakfast items that's literally right next door--couldn't be more convenient or fun! We thought the highlight of the unit is the screened porch right on the beach. We spent hours out there enjoying the lovely view, especially at sunset. We also liked being able to walk to Starfish Point (tip: we saw more starfish along the beach near our condo than at Starfish Point--just keep walking past Kaibo and you'll see them). Rum Point is a 3-minute drive away, or you could easily bike there. While we had a wonderful time and are already planning our next visit, this condo isn't for everyone. You're a 45-60 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife, and tourist attractions of George Town, Seven Mile Beach, and West End. If you're from the U.S. or Canada, driving a car with controls on the right side down the left side of the road requires extra vigilance. And if your idea of a vacation is not cooking, there are just four restaurants and one convenience store within a 15-minute drive. Tammey suggests stopping at a supermarket on your drive from the airport (or, for a fee, having Barbara do the shopping for you) and packing what food you can in your luggage (everything is pricier in the Caymans). We strongly agree. While this is beachfront property, it's not oceanfront. The unit is on a cove within Little Sound, which is off North Sound. So, while the water is clear, it's as still as a lagoon, there's a lot of seaweed, and the sand is sometimes coarse. Lovely to look at, but not the best for wading or swimming. This didn't bother us at all--there's a pool and whirlpool just steps away, and Starfish Point and Rum Point both have some seaweed-free spots. We're so glad we found this place, and we can't wait to go back!"

  • Nice unit

"Our family spent almost a week in beautiful St. John and decided to stay at this very quaint unit. It was not the first time for us in the island but it was in this unit. The unit has a good location mainly because it is a 7 minute walk to the downtown area which was very important to us. We love to walk and dine in this area at nights and know that parking in downtown is difficult. I have to say that though it is a short walk, the walk is a bit challenging. We are a pretty athletic family but did not look forward to the steep uphill walk after a nice evening. So if you are not in shape choose to rent a car or take a taxi. As far as the unit, we really enjoyed it. It was cleaned and had everything we needed as we cook breakfast and some lunches there. It is well decorated and with a pretty good view of gorgeous Cruz Bay. I say pretty good, and not great, mainly because to not fault of the owner there is a building coming up on the side of the unit that blocks some of the view. However, one could still enjoy a great view while having breakfast in the balcony or a few beverages at night. That was the best part of the unit.....the relaxing morning coffee overlooking Cruz bay. The pool area is very nice and also overlooks the bay. We also enjoyed the nice grill in the pool area. Finally, though the unit is well mantained and is fully stocked, it couldn't hurt to have access to air conditioning in the living room. I am used to the heat, grew up near the beach, and there is a nice breeze when all windows are open. However, it gets pretty stuffy in the mornings or during the day. It didn't bother me but I could see how it could others who are not used to this weather. I noticed a lot of the units did. The owner, Jan, was great to work with. She was always available and her contact people at the island were also great. We would definitely stay there again."

  • Wonderful and relaxing place to stay!!!

"Mary's Boon is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax and be able to walk to the beach in 2 mins or less. My husband and I really enjoyed staying in this villa. It was clean and well appointed. The owner is very easy to work with and alway's answered my many questions right away. The king size bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. The staff was very accommodating and extremely nice. The beach is beautiful and we liked that the chairs and umbrella's were complimentary. We had all the amenities of the hotel even though the villa is privately owned. Our favorite thing to do was to get our coffee, walk out our door and onto the beach for a long walk. Normally we stay across the bay and go to a different beach each day since we really don't like the beach they have, but not here. We only left to go to a different beach on 2 days because we loved this beach so much. The planes were a bit loud the first day but after that you really don't pay attention to them unless it's the KLM 747 taking off. Then you just have to watch!! Lots of restaurants and night life in Simpson's Bay and Karakters restaurant is a walk down the beach. With the new causeway it was less than 10 minutes to Marigot or 20 to Grand Case. We went to Grand Case for Carnival Night on Tuesday and ate at LeTastivan. Excellent service and delicious food. They close off the street that night for vendors, dancers and music. A must if you come to the island. I would definitely recommend Mary's Boon to anyone that loves to relax and enjoy the beach!"
