  • Perfect

"Paul and I are business owners who prefer not to vacation like "tourists". We prefer to do as "the locals do" and find gems around the world. Whether we are looking for new dining experiences, the best breakfast place, or a new adventure, we rather escape the long lines of tourists destinations and find the real places of significance often overlooked by tourists magazines and agencies. In this case, Martin's place by the ocean is a cottage gem. Located on Marsh Island, it is a home away from home with all the conveniences. The bedroom faces the ocean, the views are exceptional, and the quaint little chalet style home affords you the comforts of being away with all the conveniences of home. Internet access included. Here are the things I loved. I loved the fishing rods were curtain hangers. I loved I could feel the sand at my toes, and the beach was so private I felt like it was all mine, which it was. I loved the smell of the outdoor fires on the beach. Loved the privacy. Loved the neighbors who were mostly Canadian and welcomed us within 30 minutes of our arrival. Loved they became friends. Loved they were all business owners (like us). Loved the neighbors dogs would visit us every morning and night just to check in (super well mannered and loving). It was so easy to rent a car. Martin gave us his top list of local restaurants to visit and haunts to hang in. We did most of them and I have to tell you we loved Pete's place (worth a visit). The liquor store and grocery store are near by, the island has everything you need/want. We rented a boat and went island hopping. And if you dive or hope to snorkel, definitely check out Keith's dive place (the best of the best locally). Here's what we would do better next time: If you arrive on a holiday, the locals close shop. So if you arrive on Christmas or an official holiday, make sure to work it out with Martin to have provisions in the house upon arrival (maybe he could send someone to shop for you ahead of time). It's about a $30 cab ride from the airport to the house, so I highly recommend you rent a car for your stay (we did, best thing we could do). Liquor is cheap, but remember that they have to import most foods, so be prepared for the "give and take" on these two items. Loved renting a boat and island hopping. There are also ferry's that go from island to island, and that is okay for 1 day excursion. If you seek privacy and a nest by the ocean to get away, you'll love it too."

  • Incredible Vacation!

"From the time we arrived until the time we left we were made to feel comfortable. The views from the house and beach are amazing! We snorkeled almost every day behind the house and out about 100 yards. We had a storm blow through one evening so the next day we drove down to Sandy Point to find some shells. We rented the downstairs as a one bedroom but Joyce, the caretaker was nice enough to show us the rest of the house (we will be back with family or friends). Plenty of toys available to use such as kayaks, sunfish sailboat (we didn't use it as we didn't know how to put it together) along with inflatables galore and plenty of snorkeling gear (we brought our own). Met several people from the neighborhood and everyone was incredibly nice. Walks along the private beach almost every evening. Cocktails and star gazing on the rear patio! We went out snorkeling with one of the neighbors, who had a boat, and saw some of the shallow water reefs close by. Can't wait to come back. Easy access to the rest of the island but a very relaxing location."

  • Condo was wonderful. Very well appointed with everything you need.

"My experience was wonderful. The condo was wonderful. The owners were extremely accommodating and easy to deal with. They even hooked us up with a local who was willing to take care of any special requests we had. Having our own dock was wonderful. It allowed us the ability to rent a boat from Sunset Marine on Green Turtle Cay which saved us money. The only negative was that we couldn't stay forever. Treasure Cay is a very special place. We will be back for sure."

  • Beautiful sunsets & stargazing!

"This is our 22nd trip to Hopetown and the first staying at Four Winds – and we loved it! The house is well-maintained, the beds and furniture are comfortable, the kitchen is well-stocked with appliances/dishes/serving ware, the outdoor shower is delightful, the location is convenient and the dock is great! There is a grocery, bakery and liquor store within walking distance, which was a concern being so far from town and preferring to rent a boat rather than golf cart. There is good snorkeling right of the dock, along the rock walls and we saw lots of sea creatures swim by ( large rays, schools of jacks and a very large puffer fish which seemed to make under the dock his home). The sunsets were pretty, the air conditioning effective and the deck just the right size for enjoying eating outside and star gazing at night. Liked others have posted, we hesitate to recommend it for fear it won’t be available when we want to come back, but you will not be disappointed with a stay at Four Winds."
