  • Wonderful 1st Time Experience in the Abacos

"We had an awesome visit to Lizard Lodge! 4 adults share the upstairs part of the house (there is an efficiency apartment below with an additional bedroom). The house is very unique in that you have both road & beach access. The location was PERFECT, we rented a boat from Island Marine for the week, but otherwise walked anywhere we wanted to go. Golf cart & bicycle rentals were available, but we had a great spot and didn't need them. The beach view/access was over the top beautiful. Looking forward to planning another visit!!!"

  • Perfect

"Paul and I are business owners who prefer not to vacation like "tourists". We prefer to do as "the locals do" and find gems around the world. Whether we are looking for new dining experiences, the best breakfast place, or a new adventure, we rather escape the long lines of tourists destinations and find the real places of significance often overlooked by tourists magazines and agencies. In this case, Martin's place by the ocean is a cottage gem. Located on Marsh Island, it is a home away from home with all the conveniences. The bedroom faces the ocean, the views are exceptional, and the quaint little chalet style home affords you the comforts of being away with all the conveniences of home. Internet access included. Here are the things I loved. I loved the fishing rods were curtain hangers. I loved I could feel the sand at my toes, and the beach was so private I felt like it was all mine, which it was. I loved the smell of the outdoor fires on the beach. Loved the privacy. Loved the neighbors who were mostly Canadian and welcomed us within 30 minutes of our arrival. Loved they became friends. Loved they were all business owners (like us). Loved the neighbors dogs would visit us every morning and night just to check in (super well mannered and loving). It was so easy to rent a car. Martin gave us his top list of local restaurants to visit and haunts to hang in. We did most of them and I have to tell you we loved Pete's place (worth a visit). The liquor store and grocery store are near by, the island has everything you need/want. We rented a boat and went island hopping. And if you dive or hope to snorkel, definitely check out Keith's dive place (the best of the best locally). Here's what we would do better next time: If you arrive on a holiday, the locals close shop. So if you arrive on Christmas or an official holiday, make sure to work it out with Martin to have provisions in the house upon arrival (maybe he could send someone to shop for you ahead of time). It's about a $30 cab ride from the airport to the house, so I highly recommend you rent a car for your stay (we did, best thing we could do). Liquor is cheap, but remember that they have to import most foods, so be prepared for the "give and take" on these two items. Loved renting a boat and island hopping. There are also ferry's that go from island to island, and that is okay for 1 day excursion. If you seek privacy and a nest by the ocean to get away, you'll love it too."

  • Relaxing at its BEST!

"We had a wonderful experience from the booking to the checkout! John and Sue were great hosts, they were readily available for us if we needed anything. They were actually staying at their other property next door during our visit and we're very welcoming providing us with suggestions on where to eat, what activities to do, etc. The property was very well kept, perfect for the two of us staying for 7 nights. Exactly as it is described. The bed was comfortable, they provide you with plenty of towels, pillows, linens, wash cloths. The kitchen was great, we prepared our breakfast every morning, and even baked ribs in the oven. Utensils, plates, cups, pots, pans, everything you need to cook pretty much anything is available. The spice & seasoning cabinet was stocked with good variety. There were many great things about the property, the best being it's location! You can literally walk everywhere within the island, the grocery store, post office, Abaco tours office, Marina, restaurants, bars, and of course THE BEACH! We rented a car for one day to explore Marsh Harbour and take the ferry to Hopetown as well as Green Turtle Cay. This was our first visit to the Bahamas and it was definitely a wonderful experience. We will without a doubt be returning and staying at Mariners Cove every person we encountered was very nice. Thank you John & Sue. See yall again soon! Gabe & Karina"

  • Super Fun Family Vacation!

"Great house! Ocean view from every room. Loved the porch, spent a lot of time lounging out there. Having the beach right in the back yard was a great luxury with a toddler. We could easily just walk out the backdoor and be on the beach to let her run and play in the sand. We also enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. There were turtles out everyday just to the right of the house, we would paddle and go check them out daily. Can't wait to return, we had a fantastic time and were sad to leave."
